REQUIREMENTS:

1. You must use SSL but you're welcome to show us that you can handle real vinyl or any other hardware in addition to SSL.

2. You must have a stickam account.

3. You must have a webcam.

4. You must audition and be approved.


HOW TO AUDITION

1. Create your stickam account and add the Scratch LIVE! profile as a friend.

2. Contact any of the members who broadcast (check out the main page for links to their profiles) so you can set up an audition date/time.

3. After you/we verify that your cam and audio are working correctly, you will go LIVE in your own profile and a few of us will watch you DJ.

4. Once approved, you can provide us the name for your show and the type of music you'll be spinning so your information can be added to the main page of the Scratch LIVE! profile. You're not limited as to what kind of music you can spin. Show us your creativity!!! :)

Sounds cool. We have a camcorder but I never bothered learning how to use it. Just wondering if you guys know it can be used as a webcam?

Also, would I, dj_KaSE, have to audition given that y'all have seen me at Jammy Jam Cinco and have my mixtapes all up on my website?

If your computer can recognize the camcorder as a "video input" you shouldnt have a problem getting it recognized.

you can pick up a logitech cam anywhere. Prices range from around 30$ to 300. Dont do what I did and buy a high def camcorder for a thousand dollars only to find out you can't broadcast in hd. I'm an idiot. I wasted atleast 900$ on that move... Its a dope cam though even though I'll never use it. I'm a camera beta too

I think my question is how you get the sound if you broadcast from the club. I have a wireless connection where Im at.. but I will not use it on my serato laptop.

I have 2 laptops. I can get a webcam. So I am about to activate my account what is the scenario on how to set up?

Oh, Im gonna hook it up where you can hear it all.. I don't fuck around! I just have to figure it all out.

So in order to hear the requests, I'm gonna have to turn the booth monitors down everytime.. That may be difficult to do. I like to just leave them loud as hell. Plus, I dunno if the mic will pick up all of that stuff due to all the background noise.

I don't think there's anything wrong with schedules. No one has asked for one and honestly, I doubt any one will. We're trying to keep this as chill as possible.

If in the future, anyone really wants to have a spot, then, we'll create a schedule.

Hi everyone, I was wondering If you wanted to check out a short 30min mix I just did to test out my stickam connections. Im not trying to get out of the auditioning process or anything but Im still waiting on an extension cable for my cam so I thought I test the audio now. Let me know honestly If its good enough for stickam as I can never make up my mind whether Im guna get props or poops.

(Right Here come the excuses lol)
- I just woke up and pressed record when I was still setting up my needles
- My needles and records urgently need replacing
- Shit Thats all the excuses i got.

I stress again that Im not trying to get out of the audition lol

Video...as in Video SL? No. You need a webcam though, and another soundcard to run the output of your mixer into. Preferably a second computer is best to do all this as you might not want to run SSL and do all this on the same computer.

Yeah man. Any webcam that works with your computer should work on stickam. The cam I have looks great for $10.00 :)

I recorded my first set on the page last night. It should be up for viewing. The sound level was a little high until Sixxx pointed it out to me mid set and we corrected it. Not my best set, just a bit of practice really.

Take the code that stickam gives you...there are 2 instances of a url in there, stickam.com etc. after the http and the /:: replace the url with urlite.com/basicstickam/

I can't just paste the code in here because it gets truncated...just do exactly the instructions I gave and it'll work.

Ok, so I found a url shortening sight that works perfectly for embedding stickam vids on myspace.

www.suurl.com

I extracted the address from the "embed" code, which is next to the vid if you view it from a stickam profile. Plugged in the address into suurl.com and replaced the old address in the code with the newly generated one, then just put it in my myspace in safe mode and voi la.

It is a great mixer, without a doubt. i guess they'll have to find out by themselves, there's also a review over at skratchworx.

i was very skeptical when i bought it... cuz i wanted a 56 but definetly couldnt afford it. I ended up making Sam Ash set it up for me with some cd decks so i could try it out.

ok, the webcam is a must. I got a Logitech off Ebay.
The audio, many ways to get this handled. From your AUX/BOOTH out directly in to your line in/mic on your laptop/desktop.. I think a lot of use 2 machines, one for stickam video and sound, the other for Serato.

Hmm, I think a couple people use that internal cam and pipe in the audio from the mixer.. The laptop is off to a side, not in front of the dj though.

Yeah sixxx is right. I had static in some spots.

I was aux out of 57
to the line/mic of the soundblaster card of the Gateway

but it was still hot and some static :-( I'll try again tomorrow due to my time zone. but i'm ready!!!

I think the gateway's sound card is busted.

Scarface told me to use the macbook for both. So, i'll set it to the side and run from the Booth out to the mic in of the macbook. that should be alot better..

Yeah i did that, but sixx said it had static on comin in. It wasn't constant just every now and then. So Scarface said to use the macbook for both. I'll try that when i get off today. I'm like 11hrs ahead you Cali guys.

it's a laptop. the one connected to the mother board is jacked. So, i'm using a soundblaster z26(i think) but for some reason it was still producing static

Hmmmm... sounds a lot more like interference than just plain static.

1. How long is the cable that goes from your mixer to the sound card and have you tried a new cable?

2. Is it passing close by any power adapters or power cables?

yeah it is passing by power cables.

It is a new cable i got from the P/x

I also went to the control panel to adjust the levels. I have the Auxout on 2 for volume. I think i'm going to switch it to Booth out and see how that works. Sixx said that AUX out usually runs hot anyway.

did a stickam test in 1 macbook using the built-in cam focussed in 57/1 tech/tv at the back with vsl runnin! heat issue though so i used my external fan. hard to see the playlist though coz screen is like 25 degrees closed, lol!

TIZZLE, i had the same problem with mine when i first started running line-in to my desktop. The problem ended up being the power adapter to my desktop speakers being plugged into the same outlet as everything else. Once i found a new outlet for them everything was crystal clear. Very weird, i know.
