Well, since 1988 I've broken many mixers in my life (I´m a ex-DMC champion) but never like this. I make a heavy use of the crossfader, but I dont understand why it has been broken if Numark says this is professional crossfader.
I found the original crossfader here: www.instrumentalparts.com
But this is much better: www.innofader.com

Oh yes. Please talk to Rane about me and tell them I'm a good guy. I need the new Rane Sixty-Two. LOL
I'm using my NS7 for 2 years and 8 months. Not new, but not too old. Maybe this video was a premonition. Read at 00:24: Watchwww.youtube.com

You used a non-specialist crossfader for heavy scratching for nearly 3 years, and then it broke?
Sounds like a pretty good quality fader to me...

From the Numark website:
"We selected the CP-PRO digital-VCA crossfader because it is outstandingly durable with low wear for a long life. It has a solid feel that is smooth and rigid. It’s only natural that our finest crossfader is a component of our finest controller."

You can sell any product that is built like a tank, and someone will figure out a way to break something on it. It doesn't mean it is cheap, or that you don't know how to use it, it just means it broke. The military builds tanks that are built like a tank, and they break down too.

Yeah - I'd say your crossfader did work if it endured quad-time fading for 2 years some old months...and the finisher throw back to the left. lolol.

Some time ago I bought this expensive tool that many professionals use to work. www.leatherman.com The manufacturer offers a 25 year warranty and says that its tools are solid as a rock and I can assure this is true. You can buy a low cost copy of this tool but surely will break in a few days. Obviously NS7's crossfader has a poor quality metal. Is broken.

You are the only instance I've seen of something like this happening on an NS7. You can't expect us to believe that the fader is sub par just because you broke it. Especially after a few years of abuse. Just because something is professional grade doesn't mean it will never fail. Mac's are supposedly professional grade laptops with warranties and all, but yet they do fail. You can apply the same scenario to anything. Professional race car divers drive professional race cars but yet they need a pit crew. Why, because things break and need replacement. Quit complaining and buy a replacement fader. Every pro level mixer comes with replaceable crossfaders and other user replaceable parts because true professionals know that even the best parts wear out and fail eventually. Even the leatherman company that you used as an example has had to honor thier warranty sometime in the past because the product failed for another customer.

I find myself in agreement with the general trend here. Hell, I've seen the crossfader stand up to abuse by child (kids destroy equipment in stores) and the random adult in a Guitar Center (They might have broken off the plastic knob covers but the faders still worked fine). But considering what I saw in that video, if it lasted this long, then... wow... that's abnormal usage.... Even most scratch dj's wouldn't abuse a fader like that.

I haven't had a single Mac fail since 1998 (and in 1998 it was just a power supply issue).
Macs are in my personal "extra-well built" things nirvana, together with Numark V7s, the DJM800, my trusty spectrum analyzer from the '90s, not to mention the BMW I've just sold.
Well built things make for a better life quality, and at the end of the day are less expensive (save the BMW! :)
