Rane 62 Crossfader Bleeds The Right Deck, When All The Way To The Left, Help!?

I just bought this mixer and had it for 2 hours when I realized my crossfader bleeds the right deck when pushed all the way to the left! Something is clearly wrong here! I have already calibrated over and over and over, and nothing fixes it?
What do I do?
This is unacceptable... I paid to much for this to happen.

The Rane magnet faders can't bleed in a normal sense like analogue faders. If after calibrating you're still not getting complete cut out, than the sensors must have been moved too much. Probably happened during shipping or something. You can adjust the sensors yourself (it's pretty easy, lots of post here and instructions on Rane's website) or send it to them and they will do it for you.

a handful of us are having issues with the fader cut in, most seem to have the issue on the left side of the fader.

^that's just like my problem except i don't have to hold mine closed. mine has accidently fell open quiet a few times though as the cut in is literally a hair.

Hey sIK,
As Niro said... sounds like the hall sensor on the left of the fader that communicates with the magnet on the rails got bent too far inward.
Not sure what you did to fix it but know the mixer was designed so that a user could get access to the faders to adjust them if need be.
You would simply take off the bottom part of the face plate and adjust the hall sensor (little black plastic nub sitting in between the rails on the far left side of the fader) as far to the left as it will go.
My guess is its bent too far inward (towards the middle of the fader).

K guys its been fixed. Just had to bend the lil hall sensor square inward to give a cut and outward if u want to shorten the cut.
Its a temp fix but works for now. I was also told there will be a update later to fix this.

Hopefully there'sa fix for this with an update Rane's pretty good with getting issues squared away. I had enough issues with my 68 and I just bought a 62 a few minutes before I saw this!!
On another note; I love the fact that you were rocking "Situation Number 9" that was my shiz-nit back in the day :)

Can SOMEONE PLEASE post a video of adjusting the hall sensors on your 62......
I just took apart my 62 because my left fader cuts in sharper then my right fader no matter HOW i calibrate it .....and i wanna adjust the right hall sensor accordingly... and im a little confused as to what exactly needs to be done to the hall sensors...
i can see them but i dont wanna just start pressing on them with anything......like what type of tool is best to adjust them etc. etc....

not sure but it seems the cross fader is the issue . not sure if a firmware update will fix a sensor that needs to be pushed away from the middle.

dude im sorry to say, just return it for a new one. truth is the product should be perfect, for thee amont of money we pay.
but if you wanna try. move the little black square under the metal tubes the crossfader slides on, inward to open up the cut gap. and move them outward to close the cut gap.
just use a small flat head and nudge to the top of that little square known as the hall sensor, they bend extremly easily so just be careful and move it a little at a time. power it on and move the fader to see if u like the adjustment, until its perfect.

Hey wicked.. I'll work on a video for this but its an easy thing to adjust.
Turn off the mixer first.
Just use your finger to bend the (right) hall sensor as far back (away from the middle of the fader) as possible.
If your still having issues try offsetting the x fader and auto calibrate the faders as I explained above.

It may be easy to fix. But a premium product should ship without having to fix anything on it. In fact, if I recall correctly, in the past Rane has said to be careful not to touch the sensors when cleaning because they are precisely calibrated.
Never-the-less, I still love Rane and hope this issue gets a fix.

make a video...i dont even know EXACTLY what im supposed to be moving
i tried it....it seems to be somewhat better but still doesnt cut as sharp as the left side........ and i put alot of pressure on that right hall sensor...with my finger and an eraser end of a pencil .

After speaking to engineer team here I was told that a permanent fix for this is coming soon.
I was also told that, although calibrating the fader while offset may help with the cut in time on either side it could also cause significant position error in the center of the fader.
Because of this I'm going to retract the possible workaround I've posted above.
The answer to this at this point is we're gonna have to wait.
The good news is the wait should not be long.
If you've made this x fader offset already, and you're now noticing the center position is wrong, you can calibrate the fader again doing it the proper way (putting all faders in the center position, holding down the headphone Cue 1 and Cue 2 buttons, and turn off/on the mixer).

What does this mean for the current owners? Send the mixer back?

The firmware should fix the issue.
If you've made offset adjustments you'll just need to calibrate it without the offset to get the original setting back.
Put the faders directly in the middle, hold down the Cue 1 and Cue 2 buttons, turn off the mixer, and back on.

Relax.......I've never seen DJ's panic so much. What do some of you do when your in the field? You can adjust the hall sensors and try re-calibrating your faders and as stated above, there will be be a software patch to hopefully help this issue out. Yeah I know, we all paid $2,000 and it should work.......I agree, but in the mean time I adjusted my shit and kept it moving.

i agree and disagree ( this should never happen ) and this is a huge problem. but i also believe in their products and i do believe there will be a fix asap. with that being said we should never have to take apart a new product to make a adjustment on any issue on a brand new release. i fixed my 61 for right now ( until the firmware release ). there needs to be a video made asap to help people that may not understand.

I agree and understand guys.. but also know that this is a brand new product.
As with a new computer OS.. there will more than likely need to be a few changes made once its released to the public. Bare with us. We know what the problem is and the fix is right around the corner via a free firmware upgrade:)

My 62 also had this issue, except it happened after a week of use. I received my 62 on June 6th and the crossfader worked perfectly. After a week, the fader would bleed pgm2 with the fader set all the way to pgm1. The issue was fixed with auto-calibration, but I was worried it would happen again. Especially since auto-calibration requires a power down. So, I did not bother opening up the mixer and just swapped out for another. If this new replacement 62 bleeds, I'll be doing a full return.
I fried my 57 by opening up and cleaning the "sticky" buttons. This needed to be done every two years. Anyway, on my second cleaning, I plugged my fader chord in the wrong slots and smoked the fader. I took full responsibility, but (at the same time) I should not have to open up the mixer to fix these problems. The buttons on my TV remote still work after 6 years. My lesson is: I'm not going to take the same risk with the 62, which now seems to have a "bleeding fader" issue.

Hey freezy,
I figure I'll quote Shaun here at Rane as he stated it well:
The older TTM 56's and TTM 57's did not have endblocks with hall sensor barriers. This allowed users to lean their hall sensors as far back as they want (to almost no cut time if desired). Unfortunately, this often led to "fader bleeding" because the hall sensors were leaning too far back towards the endblock, which generated a lot of support calls. To reduce the potential "fader bleeding" bleeding issue, due to the hall sensors leaning too far back, we developed new endblocks with hall sensor barriers. This stops the hall sensor from leaning too far back and fixes the potential fader bleeding/not cutting out audio problem. The hall sensor barrier also ensures that each hall sensor is positioned properly so that each fader calibrates within exact factory specifications during assembly. If you have an older TTM 57SL, your hall sensors may be positioned so that they're leaning a bit farther back than normal, slightly reducing the cut time of your fader. When compared to a 62, the cut time will obviously be slightly different.
If your fader falls out of spec, please try to adjust the hall sensors to slightly tweak things to your preferred cut time distance. If you are unable to bring your fader within factory specs, please let us know and we will most definitely take care of you.
With that said... it sounds like you simply need to bend the left hall sensor in slightly to fix any bleed issue on the left side.
You don't need to disconnect any of the ribbon cables, or even take the fader out, to do so.
Just unscrew the four top screws that hold the bottom face plate on to get access to the faders, and use your finger to slightly bend the hall sensor.
Although this is an extremely quick, easy, and non evasive procedure, If this is not something you're comfortable doing than we would be more than happy to do it for you.
Just say the word:)
I figure I'll quote Shaun here at Rane as he stated it well:
Quote:
I've been working for Rane for going on 9 years and I've helped literally hundreds of users with their non-contact faders. I've heard everything from bleeding to large cut gaps, you name it. The cut time has always been slightly adjustable, to the users personal preference, by tweaking the hall sensors slightly. The cut distance for one DJ may not be enough or may be too much for another DJ, so tweaking the sensors is a way to "customize" your cut distance.
