i saw on youtube.com by a guy named rhym3 that he had his mpd hooked up to use samples while running serato. how is that possible and how do you assign each pad to a specific sample using mpd24

MPD24 supports XP, no VISTA driver yet. dont know about mac.
download SSL 1.8 and assign midi in there.
for more info, read the manual

Akai told me that the MPD24 supports Vista. I have an MPD16 and it doesn't support Vista. Maybe they were just trying to get me to buy a 24.

I picked up an MPD-24 today. Definitely made well.
I'm not sure if it's the unit or something I didn't set up correctly, but while playing around, I noticed that my loops were turning on and off randomly.
When I disconnected the MPD it all went back to normal.
I should probably read the manual.

He's just using the MPD to trigger cue points in SSL.
so i guess it would be safe to assume u could do the same with an mpc in midi mode

same can be done with an mpc, asr or any device with midi out. but an mpc only has midi. you would need a midi to usb adapter to use your mpc with ssl.
something like a motu mtp av usb. but you lose portability, so a triggerfinger or a mpd16/24 is best.

dj d.range does the mpc has drivers for your os. or is the usb just for connecting peripherals (keyboards, ext hd, etc).

the mpc 500, 1000 and 2500 has usb ports but only support mass storage. when you plug it in, your pc sees it as a drive. it is not capable of sending/receiving midi data.
so to use your mpc you need a midi to computer device. you would connect the midi out cable of your mpc to this device. this device would connect to your pc (via usb, pci, firewire, etc) and transmit to your pc.
for instance i have an emu 1212m and a motu mtp av usb. the emu is a pci card with midi in/out. i can plug in any midi device and send/receive midi to/from my pc. same goes with the moto (cept it's usb).

I'm gonna try to hook my MPC2000 up to SSL with my USB MIDI interface.
Will let the board know if it works.

that video is amazing, first off journey is a crackin band, go steve perry, woo
an the whole remix that he does is awesome,
i was deciding on what midi controller to get an got myself a mpd24, i think its way better then the m-audio trigger finger,
the 360 deg rotational pots come in handy when you have lotsa music to sort threw an i just plain an simple like the look of it better
"HittinSkinzTa2" i didnt realise you couldnt assign both the loop start an stop to the one button, thanks mate, you just saved me 2 pads, cheers
