yeah the nanocontrol is some bang for its buck Im using a denon dnhc 1000s for the serato stuff (cues loops rolls) basically any serato feature and a nano kontrol strictly for m.e.....works great

with ME you do not need knobs.
you can change the type of input it is.

actually, i should say "until recently, i HAD them setup that way."
it's been quite a few months since i did it. i believe you need to look toward the "advanced" part of the midi setup.
there are multiple configurations. don't remember the names.
1 setup i had was mimicked a know in that the longer i hel the button the more the "knob" turned in the direction setup. another setting was like all the way turned up or all the way turned down this creating an "on/off" switch therefore not needing an on/off button or bypass for effects like in vsl. there was also a toggle ability too.
the midi abilities off mix emergency are simply fucking amazing. it is yet another thing VSL can not come close too.
i have yet to see anyone even come close to using the midi abilities to their fullest.

you can set them as smart buttons too. meaning one midi control/button/slider or knob can do mutliple things. for instance on my dicers when i hit the loop roll or the longer i held it multiple settings for the effects would be engage. the longer i held it or the longer the faster the loop roll became the more intense the effects beacme.

I have the old nano kontrol but don't it cause of the dicers (don't want to use both) and it's too damn dark.



This would be nice if it's midi mappable and not just the extra scenes

I can turn on and off with dicers, but I'd have to set all the effect before hand, can't rotate anything or scroll up and down to choose effect with buttons.

it is in the ME advanced midi functions.

you have to set 2 knobs tho. one button scrolls up, one button scrolls down. plus, you can use the shift buttons of the dicers, people always forget.

it's not perfect, using 2 buttons in place of one knob, but it can be done.

Yeah I don't even use the extra buttons now on my dicers for fear of not pressing the scene button and jumping to a cue, loop or loop roll.

I mean I use two, one to turn loops on and off that I have set already and another which I forgot what it does.

I use Dicers, a MidiFighter in 4 banks mode, and spare knobs on the DJM-800.

And still I sometimes want more...

I've had the dicers and nanokontrol running together, but got scared and just stuck with the dicers, didn't want anything to crash.

I use the Belkin F4U017 powered hub.

The craziest setup I ran with that hub was 2 x CDJ2000s over HID, Dicers, USB/Midi interface, and 2 MidiFighters.

I trust that hub with my life. Bought a second one in case I lose or break the first one...

what I was excited, and taunting me to move to 2.3 was the EFX, with buttons on the x1 you can set to toggle on and off (lights) and knobs to map I had my page 2 all lined up for that.

now i read efx is all jacked up in 2.3.3
so 57 efx it is.

I've been using the akai lpd8 with ME no problem. I might the traktor control a look tho.

The X1 is one of the rare breed of products which I have never seen a user say bad things about. Quite tempted myself.

+1, i broke my nanokontrol thurs night so i upgraded to the nanokontrol 2...while i was in GC getting it i had the temptation to give the X1 a shot, i hear great things about it but decided to just grab the kontol2 for the moment, GREAT UPDATE, its alot nicer than the original and maps great to ME

had my x1 2 years now love it it even took a whole can of red bull last night like a boss !! still worked perfect if not a little sticky

Got the 68, and thinking about getting the ipad3/2S alongside. (been using the ipod touch with OSC). Also have the X1, HC1000S, Dicers, APC20 & MPD 24 btw. Was thinking about the 62, but gonna see how this whole Serato vs Inklen debate plays out, before I rush anything....

I use an MPD 32. and a Maudio Xsession Pro. between those 2 i chave EVERYTHING in ME mapped. and it works very well.

Eloy what DMX lighting program are you sending this midi Data too? is this in a residency club?
I ask because i want to start doing the same thing. The club i work at has Martin Light jockey and it sucks balls for Midi control. I have discovered that i need to also run a program that translated midi data to DMX data to have decent control of the program.

I already have the X1 but might grab one of these as well if it turns out to be fully midi-mappable. Those extra sliders and knobs would be great for tweaking effect parameters, and from a purely audio standpoint those huge pads look ideal for triggering samples.

looks nice...i understand why they did it but i have never really liked pre-written functions on a device that can be changed by the user.
hope the colors can be changed and customized, like the dicers.

I know what you mean. I'm big into aesthetics and this irks me on my X1. I just try to set up the functions in SSL to mirror what the buttons do as best as possible and memorize the rest.


I think it's meant to integrate seamlessly with Traktor Pro 2.5 and control those remix decks for the samples. The color coding seems to have a lot to do with it too. Besides that I'm not entirely sure..

for instance the depth of the audio effects when the 57 came out were unbelievable.
so much that people still think the on board pioneer effects of a 600 are better.
to this day i yet to see someone take the effects of a 57 to the next level, but it is possible.

I use mixtape more than the bridge. I get the grid effect which is great when ME 2.0 comes out, but not sure what the bridge actually does.

I think the 57 effects would have been more used if they could have been triggered externally. Or if the 57 had a better system for changing groups. I never change groups because there is nothing on the mixer that tells me exactly what group I am in.

Yeah, the FX setup on the 57 was the reason I never bought one.
I do love the FX on the 68 though, and the 62 seems even better.
