How 'bout an option in library & crates to include a play count (like in iTunes)? This would come in handy for weeding out shit you never play.

This came up in this thread on the DJing discussion board:
www.scratchlive.net
Nik, your link is to the WHOLE "read me first" sticky, not a specific thread. Actually, if this is the thread in the sticky you mean:
www.scratchlive.net
It doesn't address play count specifically.
This should be much simpler and much less demanding of both developers time and, when implemented, CPU resources. So, BUMP BUMP BUMP.

It was a hint to read the stickies before posting. Esp. those ones title "Read Me First!".
Plus that thread mentions in the 4th line:
That is what you posted about in your first post in this thread.

Another vote for Play Count, shouldn't be too hard to do since it is already in iTunes. Great for making a "Hot Crate" or smart playlist of your most popular songs.

Not to start a battle here, but this doesn't deserve to get buried deep in the stickies with a bunch of far-fetched pie-in-the-sky bullshit. This should be simple to implement and would be incredibly useful.
Yep. It would help you find most your played to sort and classify, and your least played to weed out.

Nik, I see you mean this thread:

It's good to see there that you're on board with the idea (and have been for quite some time):

How are the chances to get a SSL playcounter for each track (preferable stored into the tags not in the database)? I would find this very usefull, cause right now my SSL track library is growing and growing and growing. I know HD space is not expensive, but laptops HDs have a limit. Also I would like to have my SSL library trimmed down due to all problems you get with biiiig libraries (how to backup, keep tidy etc).
With a playcounter I could decide each 3 months, which songs I have on the laptop which are old (with the help of the added import date which is hopefully coming as well) and havent been played at all, or only a few times. Those files could be wipe of the drive. Whatcha think?
Bump... Anyone reading this? Any comments?

Combined with a rating system (doesnt sound like a big wish...) this would help a lot, making it easier to keep up with your library.
2005? Wouldn't you agree this simple idea has gotten buried in a haystack of stickies? Tags, database, somewhere, anywhere.
Serato team, how about an option to add a play count as a column in your library & crates?

I never said this is not a good idea. But putting your support across 30 different threads makes no sense.
Whatever, it is your forum account, do what you think is right. I was just trying to help.

Ok I dont understand why we dont have Playcount. final scratch, traktor, Itunes, etc have/had playcount.
Now I feel that Serrato is superior to these programs with exception of this feature.
I dont get why dont have it especiouly since serratos been around for 5+ years???

Definitely.
Would make it so much easier to clear out junk tracks that never get played.

Hello Serato Team. Again after the latest update you wasn't able to add a playcount column. Why? Please add it asap! Lots of your users are waiting for it.

After 10+ years of play history, counting my plays from 0 starting NOW seems like a missed target.
Start counting from my historical play data that Serato keeps in a database.
