Im working on a spread sheet for all keys, for ranges between 80bpm and 160bpm.
Ex. To go from A(major or minor) to A#(major or minor), add 5-6 bpm.
or
Ex. If you pitch up 12 BPM, and you're in C, you'll transpose to D
As a general rule, Its more or less 5 to 6 bpm per semi-tone, but there is an algorithm if you want to get scientific about it (taken from here: www.mombu.com )
A semitone is a factor 2^(1/12) or approximately 1.059463094359295260
so going a semitone up will result in 150*1.059463094359295260=
approximately 158.919464153894289BPM.
The general formula is:
BPMnew = BPMold * (2^(1/12))^(number of semitones up) or
BPMnew = BPMold *(1.059463094359295260)^(number of semitones up)
Considering that an octave is 12 semitones, this even might make some
sense...

And if anyone is a pro at using spreadsheets, holla. Id like to know if there's a way for me to program in the above formulas so that Excel or OpenOffice Calc will map BPMs automatically.

You you just find out the key of all you tracks, hit 'key lock', and they will never change?

but remember back in the vinyl days,(before keylock) when certain songs weren't in key, but when they were pitched up/down enough -not only would their tempos match up, but sometimes (if you got lucky) a complimentary key harmony would occur. (part of the magic of finding two records that work beautifully together)

Yes indeed they were beautiful magic moments. I have cigarette packs in my room with song combinations / bpms scribbled across the top and down the side rails. I learned to carry a pad.

The point here is to mix 2 songs together that are the same key. The chart/formula is to tell you that you will be in key "x" if you increase or decrease your speed by "y" bpm.
