1.7.4 Seems A Success

musiclee 3:47 PM - 4 September, 2007
Seems all is ok with 1.7.4.
I assume many people used it this weekend?
There doesn't seem to be issues with it...

How bout looking to finalize it and move on to the next BIG version... not rushing....just very anxious
a-swift 3:49 PM - 4 September, 2007
in the other thread, everyone said it was awesome. including me. no issues whatsover. hifi resampler thingy sounds swell.
sixxx 3:50 PM - 4 September, 2007
Yup. Very stable here. No problems.
D-Twizzle 5:18 PM - 4 September, 2007
Can't wait to add my cue points without my box connected in the next version. Very helpful when I have downtime at work and don't want to plugin the sl1 box.
DJBlisk 5:19 PM - 4 September, 2007
that shit came out?

yo d twizzle...how does it work with your 57? any new effects?

also...so now you can preview waveforms and add cue points without having it plugged in?

I dunno, I cant figure it out either
musiclee 8:34 PM - 4 September, 2007
that's wishful thinking

i don't think anyone from Serato has mentioned whether we'll ever be able to launch SSL in "lite" mode. so we can edit cues....

i ride train to work everyday, and am tired of hauling my 19" rack with my MP4 everywhere i go :-)

any hope with this Serato? 1.8 maybe ??
D-Twizzle 8:34 PM - 4 September, 2007
It's not in the 1.7.4 release, it's in the 1.8 release

musiclee 8:39 PM - 4 September, 2007
i'll believe it when i see it or when it comes from "Serato's" mouth...
ral 2:48 PM - 6 September, 2007
yup 1.7.4 is dope! more quality!

Still reading about weird shit in the Public Beta section ... I'm still not buying in... loosing faith more like it.
KaGeN 5:13 PM - 6 September, 2007
not to mention knowing that peeps are playing with 1.8 betas and we're getting fed broken 1.7.4 's ugh.
sixxx 5:16 PM - 6 September, 2007
Are these problems with 1.7.4 mac or PC? I have zero issues here. Just wondering.
KaGeN 5:17 PM - 6 September, 2007
oh ya.... you didn't have the Public Beta Section in your drink(screenshot).. hahaha
KaGeN 5:21 PM - 6 September, 2007
a quick look will find them spread over both OS's

Carl of Serato can be quoted saying this "1.7.4 contains fixes for issues on both the PC and Mac platforms :)"

seems most of the stuff is library related or column spacing, granted small, yet still very irritating stuff. And I'm not jumping in head first till I know that shit is well tested. The larger the library, the more shit to fix and time associated with it. Not worth it.
sixxx 5:24 PM - 6 September, 2007
True that. I had to fix my columns the last time (before this Jammy Jam) that I connected to a 57. I hate that cause I have a lot of "Crates".
KaGeN 5:26 PM - 6 September, 2007
it's a bug of 1.7.4
sixxx 5:27 PM - 6 September, 2007
I wasn't using 1.7.4 at the time. :(
KaGeN 5:31 PM - 6 September, 2007
I give up on the versions... shits still kinda fucked up dawg!!!

I have a fuck ton of crates that don't stay closed in 1.7.2 FINAL - so, ya know as long as it plays tunes I'm cool, without dropout and no crashes I'm still loving it. no homo, no dropouts, no 1.8, no logout, not final.
sixxx 5:38 PM - 6 September, 2007
no homo
no dropouts
no 1.8
not final

classic!
DJ`SUNNY 5:38 PM - 6 September, 2007
i instaled 1.7.4 and everytime i restart my computer it wants me to build overviews. im gonna go back to 17.2. does anyone know how to go back to 10.4.9 on a mac?
sixxx 5:41 PM - 6 September, 2007
Rescan tags first... and after that, see if it keeps doing it.

Otherwise, it's easy to go back but you need to have 1.7.2 and I don't know if there's a link for that anymore. In any case, why don't you keep all your versions on your hard drive? You can just rename your application and Scratchlive won't be installed on top of the older one you're replacing each time there's a new version out.
KaGeN 5:42 PM - 6 September, 2007
ah ya -- buy a Dell.

musiclee, first of all, yes, guilty, it was not constructive. However, if you say Fuck You (which FU stands for I assume) this is not constructive either. Some people consider this even as not being nice... Second, you are posting every second day how you cant wait to see 1.8. Every 1st day you post and ask when 1.8 is ready. Lemme ask you... Is that constructive?
DJ Overpour 8:16 PM - 6 September, 2007
Alright alright....on to something more constructive.

musiclee 8:23 PM - 6 September, 2007
yes, asking for 1.8 is constructive...as i need to use SSL with MIDI, as do many other people

setting up bogus links to log people out of the forum is not constructive, an way immature...

how about we forget trying to make 1.7.2, 1.7.3, 1.7.4 work,
and go straight to 1.8 and make THAT VERSION work.

we all use the most stable version, be it 1.6, 1.7, whatever works solid

what's next 1.7.5, to fix 1.7.4, ?
and then 1.7.6 to fix 1.7.5 ???
and 1.7.7 to fix 1.7.6 ???

too many versions already...
KaGeN 8:44 PM - 6 September, 2007
^^ I agree with you...

knowing that copies of 1.8 are in the field, and they still haven't nailed down simple shit in 1.7.3+ makes me concerned.... WHY? - cuz I work for a software company and know the trials and tribulations of version control... and QA.... and real world unforeseen issues.... and unexpected OS changes....

and Rane/Serato was doing so well..
pdidy 8:48 PM - 6 September, 2007
i need link to 1.7.4 ...thanks
musiclee 8:49 PM - 6 September, 2007
the way i see it is, the more versions that they put out there, the more they have to fix

so put the version that everyone wants out there in Beta,
and let us ALL test the shit out of it...

I understand, but does it help asking every second day whether 1.8 is finished or when its coming out and which features it will have given that Serato never said much about upcoming versions officially?

I think they have to nail down all the bugs first before they move on.
DJ Prinvale` 3:51 AM - 7 September, 2007
I used it three times last weekend, and again wednesday for 5 hip hop acts. Worked perfect everytime. I'm sticking with the RC1 for a while. Probably a few weeks after the final gets released.
