"AND the coolest thing of all. They have an easter egg, that when you press a certain code the colored waves change color to reflect your EQ's. That is the sickest visual representation i've seen!"

Unlocking the easter is no joke. You have to press a three key combo (common keys, like control + alt + delete), THEN you have to tap in morse code a word, somewhere specific on the screen.
I know that's very vague but it took us a TON of trys to figure it out with the Serato team giving us plenty of hints, and still no luck. I plan on doing a write up for DJTT on 2.0 sometime this week and will include as much as I can about the easter egg.

I've been looking for that "specific" place to type in the code....can't find it :/
Every field that I try to type in whilst holding down Ctrl, Alt, Shift, won't show the Dashes & Dots. Does the Hardware need to be connected, or should I be in Offline Mode? Regardless, I've tried it while being Connected/Disconnected, but still can't find any field that will let me type in anything while at the same time holding down the button combination.
I'm stumped.

You mean the Space Bar?
if so, then how would you differentiate between the Dashes & Dots? I've been using Hyphens (Dashes) & Periods (Dots). I went on a Morse Code Translation Site to get the code....if you have to use the Space Bar, then I have no idea how you would get the prolonged pings from it.
LOL...this is crazy, but fun none the less!

It's a cool visual reference to help you see the adjustments you make to a track with the EQ's. Kind of like level matching but with the individual frequencies of the music. I'm gonna mess around with it tomorrow, my head's hurting from trying to tap the letters in...

BTW, you'll only see it with the hardware connected and it doesn't work with the V7's because of the external mixer. If it's added, at least you should be able to turn if off if needed.

when it says Dash. that's what its registering that you have done.
pause then do the next step of the code dot or dash. It will say what it registered, etc.
so when you are pressing like a mad man and it keeps telling you, you are almost there and then you see DASH. That's the first code to begin with.

Can't understand for the life of me why Serato would choose to waste valuable time and resources of such silly things as this when their customer base is literally screaming for current issues to be fixed and implement new features that they actually want/need. :-/

Actually, the feature enabled by the Easter Egg 2 is very useful. I hope it will turn into a proper setup option.

There are two eggs? I thought there was just this arcade-esque lightshow one.

the easter egg is just that you dont have to use it... but it does help when you dont have proper booth monitoring and 'forget' to turn back on bass ect. but what issues need addressing

OK, so this is the one you're referring too (variable colored waveform tied to mixer's EQs)? If so, how is this at all useful?

vs. just looking at the EQ knobs right in front of you on the mixer?

If you can't "see" how it's useful then you're missing the point. Just like Kraal just said.. when your monitors fail you it can be helpful to know at a glance without looking down. If you don't like it just don't use it!

i don't understand why someone would think it's not useful. We use a software with Colored Waves, Color Coded Cue Points, Your Loops turn the waves green to notify your loops are on, etc. It's all color visual feedback and this another great feedback mechanism.
If you don't want visual feed back simple - just use vinly or CDJ's, or use black and gray waves, or use a program that doesn't have stacked waves (another form of visual feedback) etc.
I think it's just silly to say what's the point - just look at the mixer to see where your EQ's are. The same could be said about ANY form of visual feedback in SSL or Itch. Seriously guys.

It's not the same as those other features. Plus, you're right, it can be said about SSL/Itch controlling devices IF the devices actually have indicators ON them. If the devices have visual feedback on them (like a knob for an EQ does) then it's not necessary to have it on screen too. Why on earth would anyone want to stare at a screen when they can get what they need on the device they actually have their hands on?

cause you are already looking at the screen selecting the next track ect... then you see hey my wave is wrong cool. In a dark booth the knobs are not that easy to see....

to very minor issues --- so i get your point dear serato stop adding any features till you fix ITCH and not recognizing my hardware after going to sleep cause my mac always goes to sleep in the middle of a gig. Even if that means no itch video till ALL issues are resolved.
I am being sacarstic hear but all issues will never be resolved. I beleive the easter eggs are beveloped ideas that fall into the catagorie of not everyone will want this. I remember when ITCH first launched their stance was no never on filters/effects but they added the easter egg for the people that wanted something

i think you're just arguing to argue man. Every time a new feature comes out whether it comes out as an easter egg or standard feature (lets say day time mode) the priority should always be to fix drop outs, or a controller not being recognized, etc. I got it. But with that mentality there will never be new features and this place is always asking for more.

I'm guessing the code was already written and they decided to use it as an easter egg instead of an official feature close to end of coding cycle. I think it's cool and im sure the developers like putting in fun stuff like this for us. Shouldn't get all sour grapes about it.
