Looking for some good Roller Skating Jams...

DJJorel 8:05 AM - 2 April, 2011
I just saw the thread for Steppin music, so I wanted to turn to the forum's help with my situation.

I have a wedding in the near future where the groom's family is really into rollerskating. So much so that I believe the first dance will be done on roller skates. They are also requesting that type of music for dancing. So here are some that I came up with, and I am sure that there are tons more.

Bounce Rock Skate Roll - Vaughn Mason
Hollywood Swingin - Kool and the Gang
Saturday - De La Soul
Watching You - Slave
I'm Ready - Kano
Rappers Delight - Sugar Hill Gang
Body Talk - The Deele
Dance Floor - Zapp
Freeez - AEIOU
Let it Whip - Dazz Band
Funkin for Jamaica - Tom Browne

This is a little of what I have so far...any more suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Basically early to mid 80's R&B, funk songs like the ones you've listed will do the trick. Add some Midnight Star, Bar-Kays, Skyy and the like.

Isn't that like a drag racing station wagon? Is there really such a thing? I LOVE 2 LIVE CREW. But I'm not sure making a "clean" version of ANY of their stuff is even POSSIBLE!
Discobee 7:12 PM - 5 April, 2011
2 Live Crew actually have clean versions of their albums which consists of different lyrics and not just a bleeping or reversing of he bad words.

LOL...bro all music has clean edits. 2 Live Crew is/was forced to make them to be become commercially known as they are today. They have a track called "Fuck Shop" which samples the riff from van halen's ain't talkin bout love. The clean version is called "Funk Shop" it is one of their best hits and I still play it at my club gigs. I am born and raised in Florida I grew up on miami bass/booty music. It always goes over well at any gig im at. Here's a secret weapon of mine it's a booty bass blog for some of the best miami bass music you've never heard. Look up an album Dis Bass Game Real: And Then There Was Bass. It is one of the best albums of miami bass/booty music as well as any 2 Live Crew or DJ Magic Mike. Enjoy and happy downloading!

Look up a track by 95 South "Woot! There It Is" it is a remade version of the popular Tag Team "Whoomp! There It Is from yrs ago. Sadly Whoomp! there it is became more popular and commercially known but Woot! there it is is argueably the better version. The bass hits so hard in that damn song and it's real booty music. They did steal it from tag team but atleast they did the song justice it blows the original out the water.
DJ Tecniq 4:15 AM - 9 April, 2011
My bad let my clarify apparently Woot! there it is by 95 south came out a month earlier before Tag Team's version so 95 south are the original creators says wikepedia. I never knew that myself..interesting Tag Teams version was more commercially known.

funny, I came by this thread looking on google for a CD (found a ripped CD and was hoping to fine the original CD for the MP3 tags).....anyway, when I DJ'd at the skating rink in Dover, Perculator was big....but it was for the show offs in the middle of the floor...
Back that Thang Up (clean Juvenile version) always flooded the floor.
Supersonic
Push it

Just to add
While skating BPM has a huge influence and I find a slower beat is sweet
95-100 is good for just cruising and stepping
100-110 is getting the floor skating fast

Many skaters love to " step dance " and hovering just below 100 BPM lets them

If it's a bunch on skates than play all the stuff listed above

I'm married to a derby girl and my daughter plays too - so we get a fair share or roller disco nights
D Jay Cee 7:40 AM - 19 November, 2014

I CAN NOT remember the name of it I used to have the cd it’s not the night crawlers push the feeling on... I dont believe ... anyone have any idea what I’m talking about? It was a skate some in late 90s ...
