I have never owned a 2 chan mixer because i have needed more than 2 channels. question is what do you hook the thru into? because arent there 2 inputs per chan, one for cd and one for phono? if i'm right how would you use the thru function?

not sure on the 56/57 but on the DJM 707 you can set the phono to another line...but if you're using vinyl, the thru's would go into phono, and serato would go into line.

i dont think you can do cd's into the phono though... am i right?

right, you can't do that...so if you're using CDJ's with a 2 chan mixer that has one line toggle per channel, than i guess you can't use thru's.

but like i said, the 707 and probably the 909 can set the phono input to a line, so you have 2 line level inputs per channel.

with the 57 only you can assign the ins to be line or phono and then switch any/all of them to either setting
