Crossfader cut in problem on one side?

Dj Mick Swell 5:23 PM - 18 November, 2010
I just bought a new 57 yesterday, it was built 09/10. I noticed that when cutting into the left turntable when set to fast, the cut is super sharp like 1 mm. Thats awesome. But when I cut into the right turntable I have to open the fader more, like 3mm, for the sound to cut in. This is a problem for me cuz I cut into the left turntable when I scratch. My question is, is this a defect, shouldn't the cut in be the same on each side? And I already have the contour setting set up all the way to fast. Please help, thanks.

Im sorry the cut into the left turntable is the one with the 3mm lag, the cut in to the right turntable is super sharp. I scratch by cutting into the left.

got mine in january and mine is slightly different too. you could go in there and adjust the sensors if you really want to but I would suggest calling rane and getting in touch with customer service

I had this issue with my 57 and I worked with Shaun at Rane to get it dialed in. He had me adjust the hall sensors inside the fader. It's REALLY easy and makes a world of difference when your crossfader is perfect.

check out page 51 of the 57 Manual. It has a pic of the hall sensors at the bottom of the page.

-Take off the bottom faceplate.
-run control signal through channel
-adjust hall sensor in or out
-check your cut-in
-keep adjusting as necesary

I'm having a similar issue to this. I would like to know exactly how do you adjust the hall sensors? The picture in the manual is not that helpful lol. A step by step on 'how to' would be great. Any comments much appreciated.

Quite simply, turn off the TTM 57SL, make sure each of the hall sensors are standing straight up. If the sensors need adjustment, use a small paper clip, flathead screw driver, or some other small tool and gently reposition the sensors.

I have a TTM 57SL. It's awesome but the right hand fader wasn't as loud as the left. I followed the instructions to clean and put it back in and now it goes at full volume, but only when turned up maximum. If I bring it down more than a couple of mm it turns off, and I have to have it set to fast otherwise I get nothing.

I've tried what you've described Shaun but nothings changed. The hall sensors look fine I've tried lots of small adjustments with no result. They seem to be in the right position to me.

Very strange behavior. Is the fader reverse switch enabled? When cleaning the fader, did you check the hall sensors? I ask because the hall sensors can get bumped out of alighment, resulting in bleeding and other odd stuff.

Where EXACTLY do you re position the sensors to? how do you make sure they're exactly accurate? if this fails...I just want someone to give me a straight answer about replacing the fader. Where do I get one and what does it cost?

Yeah man, make sure they're standing straight up :)

yeah I have, could it be the plug that connects to the fader?

Does the fader attenuate level control at all or is it only partially working?
Ranger Danger 10:55 PM - 1 February, 2012
partially. You can only get volume from it if the fader is set on fast, otherwise you get nothing. Then it acts like an on off switch and cuts out alotgether if you bump it 3 or 4 mm.

It sounds like you need a new fader, as it seems your hall sensors are dead.

Order part number 17379 (non-contact fader) from our New Zealand distributor.
