I have been using my ttm57 for so long now that I can't remember when I plugged in my old SL1 box. Last night I tried it with 1.7.0 and used the USB port on the left side of the MBP.

The screen dimmed and I got my first ever kernal panic.

I tried the same usb port with 1.7.1 PB, 1.6.3, & 1.6.2 and they all did the same thing.

The usb port on the right seems to work fine and my ttm57 works fine in both usb ports.

Any help would be great! Thanks!

Do both ports work perfectly with your 57?
LaJollaDJs 6:40 AM - 31 January, 2007
Yes.

Not sure what is going on here and am not good at reading crash logs.
I'll see if one of the Serato developers can chime in.
I'd be curious to see if you have the same issue with a different SL1.
jdub 3:16 AM - 1 February, 2007
i had the EXACT same issue... i just upgraded to 1.7 on a mac book pro and had my first 2 kernal panics ever with my laptop. The first time happened right after I unplugged the usb cord and the second just happened i think after my laptop sat for a while and the scream dimmed. I have an SL1 box... Any recommendations or help?

before i upgraded, i was using 1.5 and I had absolutely no problems at all.

I have noticed that I have USB drop outs on my POWERBOOK (not macbook) on my right side usb port sense updating to 1.7 lie the macbook users have been having... seams like 1.7 is causing it to be more sensitive.
LaJollaDJs 5:09 AM - 5 February, 2007
I thought the problem went away because it didn't kernal panic yesterday but today it happened again.

My ttm-57 gives me no problems on either port.

btw, I tried it with the power adapter plugged into the sl1 and without. It made no difference.

Is it possible to delete and reload the SL1 driver on a mac just like you're able to on a PC?
Konix 5:19 AM - 5 February, 2007
Most things on Macs don't need/use drivers like PCs, so there's nothing to delete and reload.
jdub 1:01 AM - 7 February, 2007
any help from the mods?

Josh 3:05 AM - 7 February, 2007
at a guess it may be a driver problem,

try removing the file SeratoScratchDriver.kext which will be in:

/System/Library/Extensions/

and then running the installer again.
LaJollaDJs 10:27 PM - 7 February, 2007
I tried removing the driver and reinstalling but that did not fix the problem. As stated before, TTM57 works on both ports and the SL1 works only on the right usb port. Left port = kernal panic.

Do you have any other devices connected to your Mac when testing the left USB port?

Andy W 3:35 AM - 19 February, 2007
Hi All, it doesn't make sense for this to be happening on 1.7 where it didn't on previous versions - the driver extensions have been the same for a long time now...

Could you try playing for a while with the last version you know worked and see if it still behaves the same?

How long have you had your machine for? A few of these Macbooks and Macbook Pro machines have developed problems like this shortly after being purchased, we shouldn't rule out the possibility that there's a problem with your Mac hardware...
dj_ricochet 7:14 AM - 4 March, 2007
I haven't had any actual kernel panics, but for the first time ever when using SSL I'm getting some USB dropouts - I've upgraded straight from a pre-1.7 version to the 1.71 version and even when running in internal mode i'm getting the USB indicator popping up red and causing clicks in the playback every now and again.

I'm using a Macbook-Pro 1.8 Core 1 duo (one of the original ones), 2gb ram. It doesn't seem to make any difference whether I plug the SL1 into the left or right USB port, they still occur. I have a USB keyboard and mouse plugged into whichever port I'm not using for SL1 (it always has its own dedicated port).

Any luck finding what's going on here? Sounds like Mac users have had a few strange things going on with 1.7+ versions judging from the forums.

PS> I will try downgrading to the previous version and playing for a while to see if that fixes the issue, and get back to you.
