im NOT using itunes - just so you know - i have read the document on the iTunes ID3 Tags - a 5th - 3rd of my bpms are intact but the rest are missing - I would also like to know when the next version of itch is due out as i get the feeling im essentally playing with a beta here..... and im not very happy about that - i know that 1.6 was supposed to be fully tested and final release - but if you ask me its far too buggy to use professionaly.

right this gets worse - just turned the computer back on after a shutdown - started itch and now ALL THE EFFING BPMS are missing - every last bast@rd one!!!!!!
Can someone from serato PLEASE EXPAIN what is going on - im supposed to be using this on Thursday!!!!

So just to clarify what is going on here, you lost your crates and BPM's were not saving to the tags when you analyzed your files? Could you tell me what format your hard drive is? Also could you check the permissions for this drive and make sure they are set to both read & write? You can check this by right clicking on the drive and selecting properties.

the crates were a seperate issue - i sorted those out .
I re-anylised everything - and all was back to normal for a while.
Played a few times - shut computer down - played out etc...
Came back from playing out - no bpms (well say 20% - a lot of them were orange - as in been played recently).
I unplugged the hard drive - plugged it into my main desktop pc (seperate) to transfer a file (traktor demo) - plugged back into laptop - and bang - no bpms whatsoever.
Loaded traktor demo on laptop - ALL BPMS SHOWING INTACT IN TRAKTOR.
Back to ITCH - no BPMS.

Just checked the drive and write permissions are read only on some folders! I havent set them to be read only - does ITCH?

This drive is really only used with ITCH and not a lot else.
Just put it into my main comp and unchecked read only - looked a min later and the bloody thing is read only again! Put it into XP and checked the files read only is ticked but ghosted out - whats the score here then. And whet could be setting these files to read only?
Should i format the disk again to completley wipe the swine?
The drive format is NTFS 500GB Samsung External USB

main comp is windows 7 64 bit by the way if that has any bearing on this......

if windows 7 is causing permission errors on the drive every time i plug it in then that might be the root of the problem - and maybe go somewhere to explaining the missing crates thing as well.
Generally i use the main desktop to download my music (beatport/white label/copy from Cd etc...) and then transfer them to the USB HDD.
I suppose a way round this is to only use the HDD on the laptop - but thats a bit of a messy work around - i bought this laptop also for transferring large files around and my only other alternative is to buy another one.
One of the main points of having an external HDD is to use across multiple machines.
Are there some settings that can be applied so this can be used across both machines - thats if this is the problem. When the crates went missing the OS on the main PC was Vista - which may do a similar thing. If this is indeed what is causing it.

Try to format the HD as FAT32...

In terms of using your external hard drive across multiple computers you might want to consider reformatting to FAT32 which is compatible across both Mac and PC. When you say it is set to read only on some folders, are these folders containing the tracks that don't save BPM's?

cant really reformat it as i need to have the larger file size afforded by NTFS. (some of my files can be many GB (video etc...) Not bothered about Mac as I dont have one thats used for music.
Ill have to look closer into the folders. Cheers
