SVL with TTM-56

DJ RECKLESS 4:11 PM - 19 February, 2010
hello everyone,

I am new with video mixing but im not sure if what i have will work with the Video SL.
this is what i got...

Rane TTM-56
SL3
AKAI midi/sampler
Technics 1210

Is there a video out there that will show my how to hook up my VSL up to my SL3 using my RANE TTM-56.

you need a midi controller to able to control effects of vsl.
Eric N 4:45 PM - 19 February, 2010
You just hook it up like you normally would. The video output comes from your laptop, you just have to set your display settings such that your output display is not mirroring your primary display. Unless you have a midi controller, you will need to crossfade video seperately with either the arrow keys or a mouse.

I'm more curious why so many people insist on calling VSL SVL.
PopRoXxX 6:09 PM - 19 February, 2010
SVL = "Scratch Video LIVE" ???

VSL = Video-SL (actual name) :)

your AKAI midi/sampler should work for effects/crossfading of the video if mapped correctly.

Sooooo no work around where you don't have to use a midi controller in order to mix with VSL???

The only work around is to buy a mixer/controller that is compatible with Serato Video. Examples: Rane 62, Pioneer S9, DDJSX, DDJSR, DDJSB2 plus tons more. A midi controller is only for users that just have a regular mixer w/no midi built in. Midi is needed to crossfade the audio/video. Hope that helps.

that's what i was somewhat implying, cause i have the ttm-56s and wanted to see if there were any ways i could just do some kind of "hack" or whatever to not buy a new mixer/ controller to do video mixing but i guess not..but thank you for answering

a ttm57 has the ability to do this but it's only for Scratchlive it doesn't work with SDJ. Your best bet would be to get a Mixars Duo which is $700 retail but I'm sure you could find it cheaper and ask for best pricing with any online DJ store. However you'll have to make sure your laptop meets the system requirements for SDJ.

Does the duo have a midi xfader? $700 is a good price

Yes full specs here. It is only compatible with SDJ. Make sure your computer meets the system requirements before purchasing.
