I don't know if it's very smart to list everything that's on your DJ bag... for those of you who list your DJ dates, etc. It only takes one stalker who will steal your shit.

Id probably have to switch to vinyl for the night if I didnt.

I will carry two, beginning at my next gig tomorrow. But bringing an "unbreakable power supply" for a club gig, man I feel thats a bit of an overkill? I mean those computers of ours do after all come with a battery..
dj lad 9:21 AM - 24 November, 2009
Err... Uninterruptible , not unbreakable.
WarpNote 10:16 AM - 24 November, 2009
Anyway, still overkill?
DJ Dub Cowboy 4:42 PM - 24 November, 2009
I used to carry a UPS just to prevent losing power to my external HD. It was a major pain in the ass, so I got a bus powered drive.

Just plugging into a surge protector should prevent the problem above. Power sockets in the booth are tempting, but a power strip with surge protection will give one extra step of protection. I carry a mini 3 outlet one in my DJ bag if there is nothing else.
SuckaDJ 4:50 PM - 24 November, 2009
Mini 3 outlet with surge protection? Which one DC?
WarpNote 4:57 PM - 24 November, 2009

I normally only carry a power strip when bringing my own mixer/and or decks,

if ever im in a rush, espescially pre-gig, i just make sure i have "the 6 essentials" packed:
1 - lappy
2 - power
3 - headphones
4 - sl3
5 - lappy stand
6 - timecode

those are the very basiscs which no DJ should be without (unless your a vinyl DJ of course)

ALSO what irritates me most is if I rock up to a club, and THERES NO FREAKIN FREE POWER SOCKET

In this emergency situation, these are the steps I take:

1- Find the CDJ that is not playing
2 - unplug that CDJ from the socket
3- put in a double power adaptor in it's place
4 - plug the CDJ Power and Laptop Power into the power adaptor

now I always carry a power adaptor with me, I learnt this the hard way when my laptop ran out of battery

the other night, I had the same problem, and so I pulled out the spare CDJ power and SPARKS flew out, I was like WOAH I hope I don't blow a fuse, then when I plugged in the adaptor, sparks flew again - lucky no music cut out

NOW considering this:

Is there a right way or wrong way to handle this situation?

Is there a particular type of adapter that the pro DJ should have on him?

I'm keen to know

what is a wireless bodypack?
DouggyFresh 8:44 PM - 13 January, 2011
Wireless bodypack is a reciever for wireless headphones (or a transmitter of wireless mic). He's got in ear monitors, so he probably prefers to be completely detached from the mixer.
