Does it address the choppy waveforms issue? I was messing around with 1.6.1 y-day and it was really, really bothering me everytime I looked at the screen. I thought it was going to freeze up on me any minute.

Thank you to all those people that have submitted problematic MP3s in the past - we've done a major overhaul of the MP3 playing system, and we are yet to find an MP3 that can crash this build! The overview builder should now run without stopping, and has an overall progress indicator, to show how many tracks are left to build. The storing of overviews is smarter, so you wont have to rebuild overviews unnessarily. We have also improved the way we indicate corrupt files. Before using 1.6.2, rebuild the overviews of all tracks that were marked as corrupt by a previous version. To do this, sort by the status column (the second column from the left, that contains the 'corrupt file' icon) to group all your corrupt files, and drag them onto the "build overviews" button.

THANK YOU!!!
Dj KaGeN 5:47 PM - 10 August, 2006
no - it said to sort your library and drag the bad ones to the overview button. That should redo them only. Lemme know how that goes.. not gonna have time to play with that till the weekend.
DJ Nevoc 6:19 PM - 10 August, 2006
Which MORON on here decided it would be awsome to have a counter built into the overviews so that you can tell the progress at which your overbuilds are working....

CAUSE YOU WIN THE BEST IDEA EVER AWARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!

From past experience, Thursday Nights are always hard to jump off since most people save their time, money and energy for Friday Night. If there's already heavy competition in the vicinity, it makes it a little easier, but its still tough especially if the other venues are nicer than yours. I don't see this night being too succesful. Your best bet is to focus ONE genre of music and promote the fuck out of it. For instance, a strictly house or strictly 80's night... You gotta have a theme, a diverse theme just wont cut it especially with Boston and Landsdowne being so close. If you want my honest opinion, I'd stay away from this night, it destined to fail. You should be patient and wait for something better. If you are new at this, you should maybe just try it out to gain some experience, learn from your mistakes. But honestly, I wouldnt touch it with a 10 foot pole. If I were you I would MAKE a demo tape (dont use someone elses), and distribute the fuck out of it to other PROMOTERS, not venues, and try to get in that way.

They can't play baseball, they don't wear sweaters
They're not good dancers, they don't play drums

Fish heads, fish heads, rolly polly fish heads
Fish heads, fish heads, eat them up
Yumm!

Rolly Polly fish heads are never seen drinking cappuccino in
Italian restaurants with Oriental women.

I was working in the lab late one night
When my eyes beheld an eerie sight
For my monster from his slab began to rise
And suddenly to my surprise

He did the mash
He did the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
He did the mash
It caught on in a flash
He did the mash
He did the monster mash

From my laboratory in the castle east
To the master bedroom where the vampires feast
The ghouls all came from their humble abodes
To get a jolt from my electrodes

They did the mash
They did the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
They did the mash
It caught on in a flash
They did the mash
They did the monster mash

The zombies were having fun
The party had just begun
The guests included Wolf Man
Dracula and his son

The scene was rockin', all were digging the sounds
Igor on chains, backed by his baying hounds
The coffin-bangers were about to arrive
With their vocal group, "The Crypt-Kicker Five"

They played the mash
They played the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
They played the mash
It caught on in a flash
They played the mash
They played the monster mash

Out from his coffin, Drac's voice did ring
Seems he was troubled by just one thing
He opened the lid and shook his fist
And said, "Whatever happened to my Transylvania twist?"

It's now the mash
It's now the monster mash
The monster mash
And it's a graveyard smash
It's now the mash
It's caught on in a flash
It's now the mash
It's now the monster mash

Now everything's cool, Drac's a part of the band
And my monster mash is the hit of the land
For you, the living, this mash was meant too
When you get to my door, tell them Boris sent you

Then you can mash
Then you can monster mash
The monster mash
And do my graveyard smash
Then you can mash
You'll catch on in a flash
Then you can mash
Then you can monster mash

Remember when you ran away and I got on my knees and begged you not to
leave because I'd go berserk?? Well...
You left me anyhow and then the days got worse and worse and now you see
I've gone completely out of my mind.. And..
They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!
They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa
To the funny farm. Where life is beautiful all the time and I'll be
happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats and they're
coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!!!!

You thought it was a joke and so you laughed, you laughed when I had said
that loosing you would make me flip my lid.. RIGHT???
I know you laughed, I heard you laugh, you laughed you laughed and
laughed and then you left, but now you know I'm utterly mad... And..

They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa,
They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa.
To the happy home. With trees and flowers and chirping birds and basket
weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes and they're
coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!!

I cooked your food, I cleaned your house, and this is how you pay me back
for all my kind unselfish loving deeds.. Huh??
Well you just wait, they'll find you yet and when they do they'll put you
in the ASPCA, you mangy mutt!!! And...

They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa.
They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa.
To the funny farm, where life is beautiful all the time and I'll be happy
to see those nice young men in their clean white coats and they're coming
to take me away, ha-haaa!!!
To the happy home, with trees and flowers and chirping birds and basket

I've been using 1.6.2 on intel mac book pro in a club enviroment and i must say it has been very unstable on both occasions (screen freezes) I am also about to embark on a 3 month contract for Ministry of sound abroad and was going to just take my laptop and ssL, but am now seriously thinking of getting my money back on SSL as i dont think it is stable in a pro enviroment! I would like to hear from someone from serato who could offer me some advice and help. Also can anyone confirm that 1.6.2 is a beta version and if so when will 1.6.3 be released which will have these issues resolved. many thanks in advance from a not so happy cutomer
birdbrain 3:58 PM - 24 September, 2006
unless that screen freeze glitch effects your playing, which i dont know why it would, then theres nothing to be complaining about. im sure serato is working on it but it doesnt seem like that much of a problem as long as it doesnt effect playback.
nik39 4:31 PM - 24 September, 2006

The fix is probably to stop using that "small portable Lacie drive". They seem to cause a lot of people problems, due to a poorly-designed non-ventilated plastic case.

I've been using 1.6.2 for my 4-5 nights a week, and it's been fine for me. The graphics in SSL are programmed with a lower priority than the audio, which means you might see funky things happen on the screen because most of the attention is being given to maintaining audio playback. If you keep that in mind, seeing things like the screen momentarily "stop" when loading a new track will bother you a lot less.

Heya andy m, yes 1.6.2 (www.scratchlive.net) is a public release now and not beta. If you're not sure if you've got the final 1.6.2, go to your setup screen and check to see on the bottom right if it says 16227. If not, follow the link and get the latest. It's gone through a lot of testing and had considerable stability work done on it.

We'd love to work through any problems you're having and get you sorted. If you could start a new thread in the help area (www.scratchlive.net) explaining your problem, we can get onto helping you resolve it.

well it did effect play back as i had to re-boot my computer, this happened on numerous occasions throughout out the night. Basically i don't feel the serato version is stable enough as a stand alone dj tool, a contingency plan is needed i.e vinyl or cd back up, which i hoped i would not have to rely on due to traveling on a long term contract abroad. I feel i have i right to complain when you fork out £400 for some professional gear that you don't feel confident in.

how long did the screen stay frozen until you restarted your computer. lots of people, including me, have screen freezes that go away after a few seconds.

i tried all the upgrades.allways some kind of problem....staying with the 1.3...........solid no problems
andy m 8:50 PM - 25 September, 2006
I wish it would go away after a few seconds....unfortunately it stayed frozen for 5mins or longer and as i was playing out at a gig i had to do something before the tune ran out, so i wacked on a cd and decided to re-boot my comp as my computer would not respond to the force quit instructions, it was not responding one little bit. It's stressing me out as i just don't know when it's gonna happen again. Also i'd only been playing for approx 4o mins or so when it happened.

What's happening here? Did I miss something? No one owes me an apology, and I agree, Andy M has a right to complain if he feels he can't rely on Scratch LIVE.

Andy, we've seen your post in the help area, and we'll help you to get the system running right.

KaGen, i'd appreciate it if you could ease up on the crack smoking comments.
