quenten1@hotmail.com 9:36 PM - 19 January, 2020
Hello,
i was wondering if its possible to run serato dj pro(not serato video) on a older laptop with an i3 2310m cpu or a i5 450m cpu
both with 8 Gb ram
so just serato dj pro , windows 10 and the music library.

thx

Hey quenten1@hotmail.com,

Here you can find the minimum system requirements:

serato.com

Your specs seem to cover them as it seem, if the screen is compatible too, and a USB 2.0 port is available.

Yes but only if it is 64bit Windows.
quenten1@hotmail.com 12:02 AM - 20 January, 2020
it is 64bit windows
so it is

i3 2310m cpu or a i5 450m cpu
both with 8 Gb ram
500 Gb hdd
usb 3.0 and 2.0
screen 15.6 inch with 1366 x 768 pixels
windows 10 64bit
both the videocard is from the cpu (there are no seperate graphic card in these laptops)

it is just for serato dj pro and the music library.
no other programs will be installed on the laptop (just al the needed drivers)

seems fine

also for the i3 2310?

i asked this because i can get one of these laptops for free
DJMartin 12:17 AM - 20 January, 2020
The 2310 has 2 cores 4 threats with 2,1 GHZ
The 450m has also 2 cores with 4 threats and 2,4 GHZ

So both of them have the minimum requirements of 1,09 GHZ and will work with SDJ Pro.

If you gor for the 450m, dont forget to switch off the turbo boost function. This sometimes causes some instabilities of SDJ.

It will be fine. But i personally would run Windows7.
Its much more stable for serato and lower on resources. Plus does not suffer from the audio issues that seem to plague Win10 and serato.

So ?.
You will be DJ'ing with it on stage. Not reading emails and checking your instagram.
Win7 Is still the most reliable and stable OS. Which is why governments and banks around the world still use it.
I work for the largest US bank and we are using Win7 up to 2025 at least.
You can still install it, activate, and fully update it to the last patch released.

Win10 will randomly start doing things in the background and hogging cpu cycles. Plus it has nightmare issues with audio drivers. Which is why serato breaks with every new release of Win10.
Win7 on a dual boot is the answer.. Been using mine for 3yrs now and not a single glitch.
I was recently in front of 2000 people for 2hrs on a paid event. So you cannot have any fu^&ups.

I am using a core 2 duo laptop with SSD and I don't have any issues from the moment I am not using heavily effects but Ive got an i7 2011 on which the waveforms are sluggish.

Both with 4gb of ram so yours should be fine.

i have an official windows 7 pro , so the best thing to do is install the windows7 on the laptop?
and yes it is just only for dj-ing nothing else.

i have also another laptop here with a core 2 dual but on this one serato dj pro will not install.
serato itch does install but the pro doesn't
that one i gonna use for dmx software

You can upgrade for free to Wibdows 10, done with 10 laptops and that have worked very well.

I've been using 1809 and recently 1909 without any issues with my both controllers so you can give a try.

If you connect by error you Win7 on the internet you better know what you are doing as every possible hacker is currently scanning the internet to found Win7 and change them in what they need....

Ignore the win 7 guy - do you want to use the laptop for serato or to work at a bank?
quenten1@hotmail.com 8:34 PM - 23 January, 2020

To be sure, Serato does not "break" with every new update in Windows 10. At least once, yes (practice mode playback issue), but not "every" time. Also, just because Microsoft has stopped updates/support for Windows 7 doesn't mean systems using it will suddenly not work anymore. Serato has come out saying they no longer support Windows 7. So that just means that the last "official" Win7-compatible release of Serato DJ Pro is version 2.3.2. Future releases may work with Win7, but no guarantees. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the software gets improvement because Serato won't have to keep it wholly backward compatible with Win7 any longer. We shall see...
