i have a late 2011 macbook pro. i7, 1tb ssd and 16gb ram . im looking into the new 2018/19 macbook pro but they are expensive and i heard they have problems for djs. I know there was talk something like the 2015 macbook pro are beast and a standard.
what do you know from word of mouth and experience? any suggestions and specs i should hunt for?

I think the latest model addressed the keyboard issue so you should be good there. I think ppl gravitated towards the 2015 models since they were the last ones to still have usb, and no potential keyboard issues. But things are looking good with the latest models.

Hell, even the macbook airs are looking tempting if you're not gonna do anything too heavy.

Nice. Ok. Don’t want to waste so much money on a lemon. Thanks

I have the 2019 MacBook Pro 15” 2.4GHZ, I-9 processor. I haven’t had one issue with it period. All I have is Serato installed, nothing else. The only time I connect it to the internet is for Serato updates then I turn WiFi off.

Why will you have such system and you only use it with serato 😂

I would do that if I had the money to spend. Dedicated performance machine = pro move. I just keep a MacBook Air with me as a back up at gigs instead.

LOL...
I have a 2013 & 2016 that are only used for DJing.
I just starting using the 2016 as my main and had been using it as my back-up.

I have been using my earl 2011 macbook pro i7, 16gb, 1TB and it works great.
I have heard that mid-2015 15 is the way to go, Tanks, and if i get dual processors there is no worries.
Any truth ?

I just upgraded and got the latest 16” model; no performance issues at all, it analyzes 16 songs at a time. I upgraded because I use mine as a VJ, mostly with Serato Video; 2.3GHz 8‑core 9th‑generation Intel I-9, 32GB 2666MHz DDR4 memory, AMD Radeon Pro 5500M with 8GB of GDDR6 memory 2TB SSD storage.

Hands down! A used Macbook Pro M1 2020 16Gb ram and 512gb ssd is THE best to dj with. You can get a 2012 maxed out macbook pro with 16gb ram also. But this will never meet the technical expectations of the newest serato 3.0 versions with the stems. So if you want a futureproof macbook go with the m1

Why m2 when it's too expensive and doesn't have something better than the m1 when it comes to djing.
If you have to much money just buy the 14" inch m1 macbook pro. But for me the 13" does the job very good. And it's more portable. Just my 2 cents
