Who is still using DVS in 2019?

Agent 156 5:31 PM - 24 May, 2019
Just curious who else is still lugging the wheels around? I have a mindset like this Craze quote "I will ALWAYS use turntables …. when turntables die off … so will I…… and gladly" BUT, I do find myself having to bring them to pretty much every gig. So, roll call who is still on those wheels?

Depends on the gig. I have a turntable set up at home and I practice religiously on. If I'm DJing a small event or a wedding etc, I'm bringing my controller. If I do a club gig, I request turntables.
dj_soo 8:16 PM - 24 May, 2019
I’ll use them if they are there. I’m not lugging that’s shit to gigs anymore.

Even my 12 lb sc3900s in 12 lb cases with a 72 are starting to be a slog, but I’m kind of over controllers these days.
Mr. Goodkat 9:11 PM - 24 May, 2019
funny cuz craze has played on cdjs in the last few years, i remember when he played on them on holy ship.

anyway, Im into my 900 nxs's. I just totally lost all interest in turntable since i bought them. I use gator case bags, and their lightweight and easy to transport.

when m447s became scarce and not easy to just go pick up 2 at GC, circa last fall, i just kinda gave up on turntables. The usb function of the cdjs has saved me a few times since ive started using them.

turntables are just too difficult to use these days for me with little to any major reward.

Pretty much all my turntable friends can use cdjs now and most controller and cdj only people get baffled by decks, so thats another reason for my switch.

Same here or unless a client requests I use them.

I was thinking about getting a Twelve to replace my SR2. The SR2 is convenient but it gets boring real quick. I'll always keep my DVS setup for the house though.

I still only use turntables, although now that Shure are gone.... If I have to buy new carts I may just end up putting the money towards an XDJ/CDJ setup.

I'm very rarely playing out these days though. So a controller is kinda looking appealing just in that it could go in a cupboard when I'm not using it.... Whereas my turntables basically have their own room in the house.

DVS for mixing, No

DVS for turntablism, Yes
deejayfatcat 10:26 PM - 26 May, 2019
Still on TTs and SL when I’m home but NEVER take them out and most places I play don’t have TTs. The reason I keep them is to stay sharp for DVS on CDJs. Controllers bore me but lugging gear is lame. Denon MC4000 for most private events.

Ideally I’d have a NS7 with rotary faders that weighs less than 40lbs.

I like it a lot but wish it had more pads per channel. The effects, looping, mic, and sampler section are all excellent. The sound quality is great too.
djknowledge201 4:31 PM - 30 May, 2019
depends on the gig but i rarely ever want to take the 1200s out anymore. i have been lately becuz i dont have a controller anymore and just has my s9 and 1200s but i switched over to a djm 900 nexus 2 so i can perfect my cuts when i have to use a 900 in the club. not that i dj in the clubs often but, kind of a personal goal lol. just recently purchased a traktor s4 mk3 and i love it. yea the platters are nothing like my old ns7 but i can make it work.
DJ Yagga 4:25 AM - 31 May, 2019
Clubs - Turntables
Bars/Lounges - Turntables
Weddings - Turntables
Concerts/Showcases - Turntables

I have a controller at home that I usually let my DJ buddies borrow, and I rarely use it. I just DO NOT like the feeling of controllers - it just doesn't feel tactile to me - just personal preference!!!
DJ Tecniq 9:33 AM - 31 May, 2019
I originally came from t-tables & vinyl but for about the past 5 yrs or so I only use DVS at home and if it’s an event where I really need to stand out and show off. Other than that most gigs I’m rocking a controller it’s just more convenient when I have to set up tons of other shit like lighting/uplighting, rotating heads, sound system, stands etc when it comes to a mobile event it’s all about convenience for me.
Jvine 6:17 PM - 31 May, 2019
I'm just conditioned to the feel of rotating 12" platters. I just don't feel confident doing any real "tricks" or whatever on controllers. That's on me, but it it is what it is.

I've used a DDJ SX/SX2 only\ultiple occasions though, and I don't hate controllers as much as I once did.

Same here. The only Pioneer controller Feel comfortable scratching with is the SZ, but it's too big for my needs. Another reason why I am considering getting the Rane Twelve.
Dj Ace 3:15 AM - 4 June, 2019
I do on occasion but mostly use the Rane twelves and a 72 or a controller
david07 9:17 AM - 4 June, 2019
After using several controllers and seeing that the internal card is not good, I return to the turntables, Serato and DVS are the best
DJ Nin 8:08 PM - 4 June, 2019
Just depends on the gig for me as well.

Weddings I use an SX2. For my casino gigs I use a Mixars Primo.

Bars / Lounges preferably turntables assuming I have enough space (which isn't always the case), and I'm not parking 10 blocks away (at a spot I have to bring my own decks/mixer)

Other mobiles sometimes controller, sometimes turntables.

I also have the Twelve Hundos setup in my rec room and I sacrifice sleep to practice on the reg.
DJMIYAGI 9:02 PM - 4 June, 2019
Since I got the Twelves I use those for mobile/club gigs and leave the 1200s setup at home

Controller should be connnected to a sound board for the best audio esp for weddings or other mobile events.

I understand the logic, but why would anyone with tables consider the 12s if Phase is an option? Seems like phase is a cheaper option. I'm sure with a case, 12s are the close in weight as a turntable.
djstefy74 5:53 PM - 5 June, 2019
I start to use dvs in 2019.. :))
Before my 27yrs old 1210 only play my vinyls..i've try to use dvs with the DDJ1000 and RB,now with Primo and Sdj,in my opinion Serato dvs is better and more accurate than Rb,so..i'm happy that i can play and mix all the new tracks with 1210s but when i have some party\gigs from the last 9\10years i always take the controller..more comfortable, light and faster to setup..and,guys,i'm 45 and i can "hear" all the kilos of the Technics.. ;)

Mainly because there's more cables and another box to deal with when using Phase. I stopped using my SL1 a couple of years ago and I think going with Phase brings back everything I hated about the SL boxes.
dj_soo 8:20 PM - 5 June, 2019
having used both phase and twelves, I think that the twelves are a bit tighter than phase. Phase is more about convenience for me
Serato, Support

Still on Turntables. Will forever by my 1st choice. Happy to use other pieces of equipment for the circumstances.
DJ Reflex 4:42 AM - 6 June, 2019
Still using TT's and SSL at every mobile gig.
Gio Alex 7:11 PM - 6 June, 2019
Me.

If a venue has TTs, i prefer using that. Just more comfortable.

Mobile I use the controller.
Zzeless 1:50 AM - 8 June, 2019
Turntables at home, controller for events/weddings, cdj's or my xdj's for clubs, but using rekordbox!
