Serato Software Feature Suggestions

What features would you like to see in Serato software?

Feature request for Serato DJ Pro to display Album Art grid options (e.g. SSL)

Stereodreamer 5:55 PM - 15 October, 2018
Hello Serato –

As a longtime Serato user (ever since inception actually), and as a longtime vinyl DJ (30+ years) I would very much like to see the sorely missed Album Art grid view options found on Serato Scratch Live implemented on Serato DJ Pro. The reason for this is that visually recalling tracks quickly in my library based on memory of what they look like is equally if not MORE important than their associated text – just like when DJing with actual vinyl and had grown accustomed to and relied heavily on in Serato Scratch Live. The more artwork that can be displayed at a time in GUI the better. SSL's two Album ART grid views was incredibly helpful and a godsend for many of us who primarily remember our tracks based on what their artwork looks like, and was very surprised and disappointed to learn it was omitted from Serato DJ Pro.

Attached screen captures illustrate the two Album Art views options found in SSL that we are asking be added to Serato DJ Pro.

Thank you.

Yes please. I very much agree and share similar confusion at why this isn’t a first port of call for GUI design of a DJing application.

Artwork has such a strong connection to tunes for me and I’m sure many DJs. Also consider that much like a record crate you might spot a record you weren’t originally aiming/searching for and decide it could be much more appropriate and stick that on instead. That kind of organic, creative selection just can’t happen with endless scrolling or word searching and selection is after all the biggest element of really good DJing.

Please, please, please Serato. Please.

+ million

I would like to organize my crates just like I've don in the vinyl times. See artwork, and create order like that.
No idea how it can be done properly.
Would like to have "folders" for every record, keep only those track I want to play and be able to have a desired order of these "records"

Why nothing like this happens?

How can I have the closest vinyl-like browsing experience with SDJPro?

++1 this would be great extension to have grid view for what we have now (library list with artwork on the left)

I'd be happy already if they would implement the "show-artwork-feature" on left bottom like in scratch live. I think that's the easiest way and everybody who doesn't want it can switch it off. Why they don't do it? It's an easy thing to do add, isn't it.

Anyway nobody listen to us any more from Serato. Those days are over.

I can't believe this has been let out of Serato DJ Pro, locating a track based on it's artwork is a million times faster than having the trawl through lists of text.

The current artwork thumbnail size in DJ Pro just doesn't cut it really.

Nearly seven years now and this still hasn't implemented like SSL had. Wow. Just don't understand what the problem is. Could someone from Serato PLEASE provide some info. Thanks.

Yeah i just went looking through serato dj for this feature and now im here on this page..... c'mon serato do the right thing.

+++1 as so many have already said, coming from a vinyl background, being able to browse based on artwork is imperative. There's something about the way the visual locks the music into your mind and helps you pick out the next tune so much quicker. The user experience would be massively improved with this seemingly simple feature! Or is there something in the code that is makes this a tough ask?
M.adaM 3:23 AM - 11 October, 2019
Why Serato have the feature request forum if they neither listen or answers for the topics?

This and the second screen option is at least 5 if not 10 years old requests.

So Serato I suggest go an f*** yourself properly.

Does anyone happen to know if anyone from Serato ever bothers to read these requests, or are we just wasting time/energy here?

I’ve been hammering on about better album art views in SDJ ever since the first version. It’s why I still use SSL!!

I need art on deck and art on the bottom left pane of the library like in SSL. Album art is extremely important for me.

There’s a deadly silence about this from the Serato team which is really, really disappointing. Back in the day we’d at least get a reply to say thanks, this feature is logged etc, or at least a rejection with an explanation!

Come on Serato!

This entire 'Serato Software Feature Suggestion' part of the forum should be monitored at least once a week/every two weeks by a PR person from the company.

Or Serato can't afford a PR person?
There are no PR activities anyway, so at least employ a final year student from any PR university as a PR assistant.
You can even cut his/her payment from your tax, so there is nothing you can loose, and probably Serato will have some PR activities/ideas of to do list.....

Essentially the silence from Serato is a statement to say either deal with it or find another DJ software, and the latter is exactly what I did. Been using RB for a few years now and it’s light years ahead in terms of library management and GUI design amongst other things.

This is the pride of le leaders!

But leaders become loosers way before they think can happens!

Best example for this is AMD vs Intel, or ARM lately!

If Serato dev team doesnt listen to their users, there will be no users, and they can go to sleep

Holy smokes, over EIGHT YEARS now and and not a single peep from any officials at Serato about this. Thanks a lot for paying attention to and taking a few minutes to respond to some of your most loyal, oldest customers. Unbelievable.

Serato has little to worry about, most of their money comes from licensing. I bought a Serato device so even if I switched to VDJ, they already got their money. While there are people who actually buy Serato software, what % do you think it makes up? I mean If you buy a Serato device, you get Serato. Maybe some buy a lite device and upgrade yep. And if you buy a non Serato device, it won't work with Serato so you can't even buy it if you wanted. There are things I'd like Serato to change and to add. But even if I go to VDJ I'm still technically under Serato because there's not exactly a booming market for VDJ enabled controllers. And I'm not a fan of Recordbox at all, I mean I guess I could buy a Pioneer unit and use it with VDJ. But I don't particularly like their controllers. AND that would add a ton to the cost, either monthly from VDJ or $300 up front.

While I don't know, I would assume most people use whatever's bundled with their hardware because they don't want to buy shit on top of the controller they just bought. I'm not psychic, but I pretty much know the next device I buy will for Serato, there's nothing really else out there I like. VDJ has 1 controller from Reloop, imho they should put effort into getting more VDJ enabled hardware out there. IF I could buy something like my Numark Scratch that came with a VDJ license I'd go for it. And VDJ would get paid.

Holy smokes, over NINE YEARS now and and not a single peep from any officials at Serato about this. Unreal.
