I just grabbed a pair of JBL MP215s for a price I couldn't turn down. I usually rent gear for my shows, which tend to be small to medium sized - house parties, weddings and outdoor events - usually anywhere from 50 to 100 people.
I realize that these speakers don't have what it takes to do big shows, and that I'll likely still need to rent something bigger when needed. But I also know that power ratings can often be deceiving and they sounded surprisingly good when I tested them out. They also seem to have gotten great reviews so I'm excited to use them on a crowd of the right size.
I'm wondering if anyone has experience with these speakers, or if anyone knows how big I can go with them? The convenience of not having to rent gear if I don't have to would be enough to hold onto them just in case, for the right shows.
They're being powered by a 700W power amp through a graphic EQ.
Any input or discussion is welcome!
