PA for a band

Milos 9:24 PM - 6 June, 2017
Hi.
I have a wedding band, playing mostly for 100-250 people, and we are looking to buy our own PA. We rented PA until now (Dynacord Variline, Forumline, D-Lite, widely popular in my country for some reason, so we didn't have much choice, and i don't have much experience beside that and JBL Eon, and some EV systems).
We are looking to get active speakers. RCF 8003 subs, and RCF 4PRO 3031 or RCF Art 735-A for tops? Maybe RCF hd32a?Anything else i can look at in this price range?
I know im asking this on the DJing forum, but i guess there is not much difference.
Thanks

jbl srx835p over the srx828sp is very popular with bands.

Yup, great speakers, but almost double over our budget.

My vote would be 8003 with the HD32-A for 100-250 people. The HDs look better than the Art series and are cheaper then the 4Pros (which would be my choice if cost allowed) and all of those tops will be louder than a pair of 8003s.

RCF 4PRO 3031A is just 100$ over the HD32A, so that a better choice?
And are you saying that 8003 cant keep up in volume with these tops? I would need something with more power?

very few mid-ranged subs can keep up with mid range tops when you're just using a single. You just turn down the tops and learn the limits of the system.

Should 8004 be better for subs? More expensive, but i don't want to get something that won't do the job.

The 8004 is obviously better if you can move it easily. You may still never end up running your tops at full volume but so what, that's a good thing. Subs are always what limit your overall volume. I'd go with the RCF 4PRO 3031A over the HD32Mk4 because it's a 15" and will move more air but highly recommend listening to both to see which you prefer.

Thanks guys, I 'll have to go to store and check all this out.
Last question, will i need dps crossover for active speakers. I used them on passives.

The RCF line has a built in crossover on the subwoofer. As long as you have them you will not need an additional crossover.

Could i connect for example 2subs+2tops, and 2 additional fullrange speakers without dsp?

Yes. You would need to use the 'Signal Link' from the RCF 8004 to pass full signal to what ever speaker you want.
