Auto-Update Music Library

Nanite 3:39 AM - 27 May, 2017
Hi,

I may be missing something obvious, but is there a way I can get Serato to automatically monitor a folder location for new and updated music tracks?

The reason I ask is that I manage my music through a program other than iTunes, so I can't use the 'iTunes Library' built into Serato.

Every time I add new tracks to my collection, I either have to either remember my new tracks and add them manually, or I recreate all my crates from scratch.

It's not practical to do this on a regular basis.

Is there a better way to do this?

I'm using Serato DJ 1.9.6 on Mac OS and Windows 10.

You need to learn how to use a simple Java App called Serato "Itch Sync" this app I use all the time updates and refreshes your serato library after you have added new music to your serato collection... u run it before you start serato and it automatically adds new tracks for you

Fab! I'll try that later. Thanks for the tip!

Hmmm...next question then: why don't Serato include a 'Smart Crate' filter option for 'file path starts with...'

I don't know, but this App has saved me so much time in organizing my library :)

I also manage my file library manually. But I simply drag and drop this folder from Serato DJ's file view into the "All.." crate. This then just adds the new files.

Background: My collection is mastered on a NAS for non-DJ purpose. I have a separate folder on the NAS that is the master/backup for DJing. Then I manage a copy on the laptop I use for DJing. Managing betwen them I do use PureSync (Win).

That's a good idea too. I just need some way of setting up a smart crate that can uniquely identify my tracks so that they go into the correct crate automatically.

I'll think about this for a bit. Thanks!

Hey guys, I know I might just be being clueless, but I’m trying to use Serato Itch Sync and I keep getting the properties error. Is there something wrong?

BTW you can also use Serato's built in feature that is exactly what you are asking for without using any third party apps that have been known to cause issues with larger libraries. serato.com

What function is that? I want my music library to be laid out like it is in my hdd. With all the sub crates etc. I used to use alchimie zinc but I can’t seem to find it to download

Serato has one of the weakest implementations of smart playlist filters I've seen. It's missing all sorts, your example being one of them.

the only reason why your getting property error is because you haven't put into the property file the exact location of your _serato_ and your music folder you need to put all your music into one parent folder for this to work
