This problem did suddenly occurred ..I use Reloop RP-8000 with Rane Sl-2 and a Allen Heath x-one 23c.

Midi buttons works fine for an hour or so,and they suddenly stops working.I have tried another computer and another version of Serato. My Os is Yosemite on a i7 MB pro with 16gb of ram.I have deleted all midi items and tested again, but i still get the error message. My midi folder in Serato is empty,no xml files...could that be it?..if so where do i get the correct files?
Mr Wilks 9:25 PM - 27 September, 2016
I get the same error message when using the Xone 43c.
DjRint 11:58 PM - 20 December, 2016
I have the same problem with my RP8000 but it's only with any thing above 1.9.1 just up graded to 1.9.5 because of the windows 7 audio dropout fix. I have a gig tomorrow night I can't take the risk going back to 1.9.1. It works flawlessly

Hi there,

I have a Numark NS7III with Serato DJ, and since day one I have have issues with this combination of HW and software. (worst choice ever).

Noticed, sometime my mixer is not being recognized, on my MacBook Pro (MacBookPro11,5)
Wish is running macOS Sierra 10.12.2.

Some times I'm lucky to just connect the mixer and have Serato to recognize it; but 75% I'm not able to map the Mixer to my Mac.

Now, I've noticed I have the same issues, you are having with the XML file...

I'm getting "Error loading MIDI Xml:
Users/myuserID/Music/_Serato_/MIDI/Xml/AUTO_Save.xml"

If I check for that file, in that path, there is nothing...

Looks this file has disappeared.

Does anyone knows how to recover it or how to rebuild it?

Note that I've already tried to use the KENEX Thunderbolt eSATA USB 3.0 Adapter, and it was just a waste of $$ (85 with Tax). I also, troubleshooted the Audio MIDI Setup, and still no go.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you
Mr Wilks 3:45 PM - 21 January, 2017
I also have the error warning with the XML file but it's not made a difference with the use of the mixer.

It's the Xone 43c.

Have you tried deleting AUTOSAVE.xml and start a fresh mapping.

Note: Common error that some users miss is to Select their controller on the list and ENABLE midi mapping by checking the box.

Leonardomedina93lm 3:58 PM - 16 March, 2018
I always have this issue when I reset my computer or use a new one
On my case is really easy to fix and most of the time I feel silly when I figure out.

Just change from ABS to INT

"Error loading MIDI Xml on Pioneer DDJ-SR!!! any fix for this already?? or does SERATO leave us hanging?it started since the update to serato pro!! everything worked fine before but with the update it fucked up my controller. any help would be welcome!!

I got this error too, but I solved it. I know it might not be the same for all of you guys, but ... I simply connected my MIDI controller to my computer. Seems that if no MIDI controller is connected to your mac/whatsoever, the MIDI xml loading will fail automatically.

I think its the latest version of serato pro, i have a mixtrack pro 3 and every time i connected it would say error loading auto_save.xml, then it would log on for 3 seconds then disappear. i'm not sure if this will be helpful for everyone, but i went ahead and re-downloading the free serato dj intro, then connected it and it worked. Then i went back to serato pro and it started to work. I'd say its worth a try, if you guys got any free software to re-download it.

Is that related to this:

serato.com

Maybe Serato destroys its own files?

I suddenly got this "error loading midi Xm" messageb when I connected a new controller.
I was connecting a Hercules Starlight as a back up. I checked back with my Vestax vci 400 and found all OK so explored the midi section of the settings. VCi 400 was there and when I highlighted it a new box saying "Allow Serato Hardware Remapping" appeared. This was not ticked.
I then loaded the starlight which again gave the error message and looked in the settings midi section and highlighted the starlight.
The remapping box appeared and it was ticked. So I un-ticked it and the problem was solved.
This is a bit counter intuitive but thinking it through probably means that the box is ticked if you want to use your own mapping and leaving it unticked loads the pre-mapping of the controller.
Hope that may help others

I am also getting this error message on my Pioneer DJM-S3, Serato recognizes that the hardware is plugged in but when I hit play nothing happens. I can hear the control tone over line just when I flip to USB nothing happens.

my Pioneer DJM-750MK2 isn't even being picked up. I tried both a dongle and a USB port same issue. I am going to try and find a USB-B to USB-C cable but I doubt that is the issue.

My guess is is a compatibility issue with the new MacBook Pro with the touch bar. Need to get my old MacBook up and running I hope ... F**king Apple
ragnorrox 3:19 AM - 20 February, 2019
Update: plugged in the older mac (2015?) and after setting up the sound in setting and loading the driver...no worries. It's something to do with the newer touch bar Mac so if anyone figures it out please do share.

Late 2015 Macbook Retina display, Mojave w/Latest Serato DJ Pro trying to connect to a DJM-900 Nexus... recognizes for a hot second and then falls out. Wasn’t able to connect. Latest 900 driver installed but still nothing. Should’ve brought my S9 :( Ended using the light guys laptop which has El Capitan. Hoping serato and pioneer figure this out soon
ragnorrox 8:17 PM - 25 February, 2019
my issue turned out to be really simple. New laptop was set to absolute mode. Switched it to relative mode and now both laptops working with all my Pioneer devices. Another thing to watch out for is whether or not it is plugged into the LINE of PHONO jacks. I note that Serato doesn't like the control single if I plug my CDJ's in the wrong one.

All I did to fix this was go to Settings > MIDI > New Preset > Save

That created AUTO_SAVE.xml and user1.xml in the _Serato_/MIDI/Xml folder

Hey Ragnorrox,

Just got my new MacBook Pro and having the same issue with my DJM-S3.

You said your fix was switching it from ABSOLUTE mode to RELATIVE mode. I can’t even get to that screen log enough to switch it as it flashes off 1 second after plugging in USB-C jack.

Your the only one here who also uses the Pioneer DJM-S3. What else have you tried since? Reinstalling Serato? DJM drivers? Etc?

Thank you.

The solution of the midi error is as follows:
With your controller installed go to
System preferences> security and privacy

There should appear your controller, you give authorization and ready.

Hey! I solved the issue. Step one, start up Serato & plug in your hardware. Let the errors occur.
Step two, open SYSTEM PREFERENCES
Step three, Security & Privacy
Step four, CLICK LOCK to make Changes, and ALLOW Serato products, pioneer products, legacy products.
Step five, let your computer restart

IF your computer goes into a mode where the loading screen doesn't let you start up your laptop reboot it again and put it in recovery mode hitting command & r keys together until mode pops up. Exit the recovery mode and launch your drive. THIS SHOULD work. If it doesn't, i recommend throwing your laptop out of a window & buy some records fuggit

Hey guys! This happened to me at a gig a few nights ago. I tried everything - multiple pieces of gear (s9, 900SRT, an SL3 box), I tried multiple versions of serato, I upgraded the mixer, I bought a new license. And the worst part is that everything was fine a few days earlier at another gig.

My computer guy solved the issue!

Under the security tab, under general, 3rd party apps, NOT THE USUAL THINGS POSTED ABOVE like microphone. Hope this helps
eakle 1:12 AM - 7 December, 2020
Hi guys,

I don't know if this can resolve the issue but it's possible to download the file from Serato clicking this link:

www.google.com
x-x-l 1:18 AM - 7 January, 2021
EAKLE's link above ^^^ will download somebody else's AUTO_SAVE.xml but by placing that file in the folder that the error specifies has resolved my problem and I was then able to create a new midi preset for my own controller :-)

Now to learn xml :-)
x-x-l 1:29 AM - 7 January, 2021
If you want to manually fix this error you can create a text file name AUTO_SAVE.xml and paste in the following text to create a blank auto save xml file:

<midi app=" 2.4.3.117"> <<<PASTE THIS

That's it, 1 line of text in a file name AUTO_SAVE.xml and put it into:

/Users/Yourname/Music/_Serato_/MIDI/Xml

This was all done on Mac but I suspect you can do the same on PC (with a different path).
