Midi remapping for Official Serato Accessories

Mr. Leenknecht 9:06 AM - 25 September, 2016
I own a Pioneer DDJ SP1 and often use Pioneer's CDJs as controllers too. At this moment these devices aren't ready for midi remapping. A feature that was introduced in October 2015 for numerous devices but not for the Official Serato Accessories (OSAs). Which is a shame cause people that pay for a product that was built especially for Serato, are not able to map the buttons as they please and are not able to use their hardware to the fullest.

Imagine you want to assign new software features to an unused button (such as the sync button). That is not an option for the owners of an Official Serato Accessory. In that way, the accessory that was made especially for Serato is out dated as soon as there's a new software feature introduced …

Without this midi remapping possibility, this whole controller segment becomes an even bigger part of the throwaway society.

I've paid €379 back in 2013 and have never been able to do exactly what I wanted to do with this device. I feel stupid cause as far as I've read the release notes before I bought this controller, nothing claimed that it would not be possible. Even the manuals told me that there are advanced midi settings available so nothing gave me the feeling that this device would work different from my good old Denon HC1000S. Another device I can not use to the fullest since my switch to Serato DJ.

You can find all Official Serato Accesories here: serato.com

David W., Product Specialist at Serato told me to post this as a feature suggestion so please give me a +1 if you also want to start remapping your Official Serato Accesory!!

Thats weird you can't remap it. If its MIDI like various text says it should work.
Maybe its not sending actual MIDI, its serial or something.

Can you use it with other apps to send midi?

I'm patiently waiting for OSA remapping for the SP1 too. I want transport function on it and really want to push for this.

+1 million

It works with MIDI in other apps but Serato do their own thing and it's quite restricting. I wish there was MIDI pages that had a usable layer to remap (like the Dicers or HS1000).

Simone created dice tools and it was amazing. We need that exact application for the Sp1

This one of the main reasons I haven't purchased any OSA yet.
For some strange reason Serato believe that their mappings are exactly what everyone wants.

There plenty of buttons on my RP-8000s I'd love to be able to remap.

I have a DN-HC1000S. I want to add play and cue button to cue-4 and cue-5 buttons to have transport controls for my Rane MP2015 mixer.

I can map my own settings to layer 2 of the controller through MIDI... but I would love it if I could copy remap on layer 1. Or at least if i could copy all functions from layer 1 into layer 2 automatically and then just midi map to those 2 buttons for the alternate functions. Otherwise, I have to try to map every single function to layer 2 manually which is a lot of work.

Me too it's was amazing for the Reloop Neon.

Also, the lighting of buttons does not work with MIDI mapping.

Please integrate this ASAP! For owners of RP-8000's and a DJM-S9, there's no need for FOUR browser encoders.

When using Traktor with a Z2, I use the RP-8000 encoder as a jog wheel for scrubbing through the playing tracks quickly (Press down and turn, so no accidental hitting).

I'm on the fence of switching back to Serato, and adding advanced MIDI mapping (a starting point is allow mapping/remapping of anything... especially all serato devices) is critical as to whether or not I return to Serato.

Please add this feature soon.

+1 would like to remap a Reloop Neon and would also like to use it with Serato DJ Pro and Play without the need for main hardware connected.

So many limitations with Serato. I don't understand why
