2 powered 12" tops or 15" tops. Take your pick. Many different brands for different budgets. Almost can't go wrong with what's out there now.
If anything, set your budget, and go a little over it. You should be pleased.

I was looking into some of the new powered ones and they look like the best value for the budget I have. Great features and less gear to haul. Thanks.

I was looking at these. Am I able to run my mixer directly into the speaker then with XLRs?

Yeah I use Behringer VP2520 (dual 15) and VP1520 (single 15) passive with amp/eq rack but from research the powered option is just as good, I personally prefer passives for the flexibility.
As many have said in many reviews, price Vs output/quality is fantastic and almost unbeatable. Don't quite have the hi-fidelity of better brands but even without subs the boxes produce very good levels even in open outdoor environments, and can handle a good amount of punishment.
Keep in mind though that the boxes (without amps) are heavy and the construction isn't the best. I've added rollers to the 2520 and rear handles so i can wheel them on and off my trailer easily and corner protectors. Even if they last 10-20 gigs, they are so cheap to replace.

By all accounts Yamaha DBR 12s and a powered sub would do great for an entry level system.

Would prefer an EV system depending on your budget. I didn't think Behringer were relevant anymore. So many better brands out there.

EV right there too. Al Poulin who posts over in the General Discussion area has some great reviews on Youtube.

yamaha dbr is the most cheap system.
if you talk about dsr system ok
ev is chinese from 3 years and they lose all classic american quality
i repeat: now RCF is the better choise quality / price

also: EV say 1000w??
the reality is 250 w !!!!
for my experience is better 15" than 12" especially at open...
15" has more bass than 12" and is better for dj's
12" has more flexibility on travelling and is better for live vocals
