What buffer settings do you have?
The buffer setting is at 10 but I already tried raising it higher and it still does it. When I scratch the wave forms freeze for like a half second and the audio sounds kind of distorted. The faster I scratch the worse it gets.

i havent seen many problems around here with your spec computer and yosemite especially with your buffer set at 10 (i used 5 with my s9 and mountain lion then el capitan).
some ppl are getting little glitches but thats more a playback issue.
I guess it could be possible that you got a lemon.
did you try both usb ports ? verify and repair permissions? i dont like to offer any radical solutions and most on the board leave that up to service tickets with serato or pioneer.
what verion of sdj are you using?

I am using the most recent 1.9.1 but it was doing before I updated. Yes I tried both USB ports.

Can you post up a quick video showing what exactly is happening?
Also try using a different USB cable to see if that works
