Which pair of subs should I buy?

djMcClaren 5:32 AM - 6 January, 2016
I have a pair of Yamaha Dsr115 and would like to compliment them with a pair of subs. I have considered the following: Jblprx718xlf, Qsc KW181, and the Ev ETX18sp. I think that a pair of the Yamaha Dsr118w is too light to push the pair of Yamahas. I'm a beginner that is just starting out as a dj.

I would also recommend some of the 18" RCF subs, the Yamaha DXS18 and the JBL SRX818 or 828 aswell. The QSC might be underpowered for such a good speaker.

Let some of the other guys chime in with their opinions

If you don't mind a single subwoofer with a little weight, I don't think that the srx828sp can be beat at its price poing of around $1600. Do you have to have tops above subs, or will a single double 18 work for you? Joee says that the dxs is really impressive. I think that yamaha has or will discontinue the dsr118w, it always seemed to be lacking compared to the quality of their top boxes.

Go with the Yamaha DXS118 sub

or this: www.bassboss.com
The BassBoss SSP118 destroys a QSC KW181 from 30-50Hz; you'd need 2-3 QSC's to match its output below 45Hz and it's slightly better than the QSC from 65-100Hz.

I'll check and see if Guitar Center or Sam Ash have any of those subs mentioned above. Thanks.

I'm leaning towards the Dxs18 or Ev Etx18sp. I had listened to the Ev, bass is tight and it bumps.
Next, I'll check out the Yamaha.

I'm a beginner, The Yamaha Dsr115 were brand and Saturday was the first time using them. They performed flawless, no clipping or overheating. I'm happy that I bought these speakers . I had used the Bassboss SSP118.

I had bought the Bassboss SSp118. I'm very happy. The cost is very steep, but no regrets.
