Anybody ever used a Macbook 12" with Serato DJ? Ok or to weak?

I have a macbook Pro Retina 2013 which is my number 1 laptop and everything works great. Wonder if a Macbook 12" works ok with Serato DJ? Would be only as backup solution in case of any damages on my Pro retina but still should run solid. Any experiences?

No problems here!

Which Processor do you use? Do you need an adaptor to hook it up to a Pioneer DDJ SX/SZ?

There was user here that tested the new macbook and had horrible results if I remember correctly however if you're talking about an air then that's a different story

Hey DJ Baby Boy - do you have a link concerning the guy with the horrible results?

I can't find the exact thread but here's something from DJ Tech Tools djtechtools.com

Not only does the new macbook air have a terrible keyboard, and not only is it flimsy as fuck, but it looks like it has about as much CPU/processing power as an iPad.

Edit sorry that's irrelevant

Oh sorry, I'm thinking of the 2012 Macbook Pro, which is what I have. I wouldn't recommend that new Macbook '12 just because of the specs and only one port.

That 2012 Macbook would be just fine.

It was a MacbookPro 2011 that has been my main gig laptop until I had this new 2015 model.

My other back ups are way older... 2008 & 2009 still works fine with SDJ.

For the price...I don't see any reason not to just buy another MBP over the MB.

Hey all. I´m sepaking about a 12inch Macbook frpm 2015. Sure, it´s pricey. I would use it all day for emailing, surfing etc. It would be just a backup for DJ Gigs. If it works fine for that it´s sufficient. The chance -as you know- that I will need the backup is relatively low as my Retina Pro works great. But if somebody spills a beer over it, it might have a problem ;)

I feel like the 12" is more of a liability anyway, considering you'd have to run adapters just to connect anything up.

I think everyone understands the question but I 100% agree with this

a 13" MacBook Pro can be picked up for around the same if not less and unlike the 12" MB it is built for performance AND you pretty much know you will be fine. The 12" has had users complaining but as others posted above this comes as no surprise due to the specs and features of the MB.

Working successfully. Don't have my 1200's connected as shown.

All checks out here.
Just setup my new MacBook 12" Early 2016 (1.3 GHz Intel Core m7 with El Capitan 10.11.5)

Runs smooth with SDJ 1.9.1 and a Pioneer DDJ-SX.
Seems to sit nicely around 30% CPU - with no waveform stutter.

Very impressed with it's Serato performance.

Hey. Took the plunge yesterday with a DDJ-SX and a HooToo dongle (USB-C to USB 3.1 and HDMI and card reader) and Serato DJ. Worked perfectly, no problems at all, CPU load bar was way to the left (like 1/5 or so).

Does anyone know if it runs Serato Scratch Live SL1 Smoothly?
Laz219 1:56 AM - 6 September, 2017
I wouldn't expect much from the SL1, you'd be a USB 1.1 device over USB-C, with software that is not supported by the operating system.

It may work but I wouldn't be relying on it.
