Drop out / disconnect whilst DJing to club :(

Hi, last night serato did two scary things whilst I was DJing to the club, it firstly suddenly stopped playing the song and showed 1 deck as if the hardware had suddenly disconnected itself.
It did that a few times whilst playing :(
Then at other times it kept the two decks but dropped sound completely for a few seconds.
It was so terrifying I don't feel I can rely on serato to work anymore. I really like my akai amx and don't want to start leaving it at home but I'm new to digital and this has scared me!
Any help at all appreciated.
For the first issue I thought it might be the computer lead disconnecting but it seemed very securely in place.
The second issue I have no idea- sound drop outs?!
Could it be latency ? Its on 10. (I can't seem to work out how to drag it up a little)
I have an Akai amx with serato DJ with a new MacBook air 11" 4gb laptop. I have not yet upgraded to Yosemite as was worried about issues. Perhaps I should though?
Anyone else dealt with sound drop outs ? And or hardware disconnecting suddenly then returning ?
I'm new to digital so no idea where to start

Are you running the Akai direct or with a USB hub? The single deck is the offline mode so obviously there was a disconnect.Try another USB cord. Check your drop out log, its in your Serato folder.
Another thing to do is optimize your Mac. Check Serato support for the info.
I use a MBA Late 2010 with 4GB with no issues using a Denon MC6000MK2.

Thanks, yeah I don't know what to do as can't use it out to DJ with until this is fixed, I am wondering if it is something to do with having it too loud or putting too much sound through the hardware.
As it didn't happen every other time I've used it and I had the gain and master volume up high last night. I turned them down and made sure they weren't peaking in the red even abit and turned up the club mixer instead.
I didn't use a USB hub, just straight into the laptop. It happened on both ports. I will loo into optimisation,thanks. It's weird as I haven't added any software to my laptop since last weekend when it was fine. I added 2 albums thats it. No software updates, nothing. So wondering it's something I've used it differently since last week. I wonder if it's having the master volume up too high on the hardware with gain up as well. That's all I can think of!
I found the log, but it hasn't logged all of them as the times it happened were between 9pm -12am

mine stopped doing it after I turned off Wi_FI and also possibly more importantly but I have no idea, i that I made sure the AKAI AMX is not in the red and the gain and master volume is about half and not 3/4 really even. I just started turning it up louder on mixer
