You're favorite scratch records

djskiggz 6:49 PM - 15 April, 2009
Been thinking about picking up some new scratch records that I don't have.....I'm trying to get myself to practice daily but I feel like I'm getting bored because I keep using Qberts Superseals....I have a few other ones but I don't like them and I feel like I need some variety!

Post some of your favorites!

well all the scratch records are nothing more than a collection of samples on other records. you can find these samples quite easy. hit rec, then dump em into a crate quite easy. Didn't realize that was too difficult

not for nothing but it gets supa boring hearing the same samples getting cut for the past 15 yrs or so....yawnsters

the one scratch record that i always come back to is backsliding turkey kuts. theres one section on that record that is just so thick with scratch samples including all the standards. in a busy club setting and while quick mixing, you can just needle drop on that section and find something really quick. i dont like scratching digitally because youre not gonna get all those little nuances you get with vinyl. digitally, it gets the point across yea, but for deep scratching sessions, you gotta go with the OG. but using serato to loop your instrumental track that you are scratching to is a good way to practice.

the graphic is also nice on the label and aids in keeping track (almost like stickers). also the location of the scratch samples are near the "middle" of the record, not on the outer rim and not on the inner rim. Just right in the middle where you get the best control and non-skipping performance (in my opinion). definitely recommended.
