Next update to am mode should have shazam mode

Hhahahahaha
Dj Russian 5:29 AM - 2 September, 2014
awesome feature tnx serato.
RKprodZ 10:12 AM - 2 September, 2014
Nice feature, the problem is that now, all DJ gear should have an embedded cellphone signal jammer in order to keep people from shazaming your tracks, because now they don't even have to peep over your shoulders to get the tracks you spent hours finding...

Just Flip the track and shazam is no longer a worry :)

Nice marketing try in order to get an additional argument to sell flip, but shazam works with a fingerprint system, so, unless you chop your track with flip in chunks which duration is less than 10 consecutive seconds of the original song -and with only 8 cue points it's gonna be hard with songs over 80 seconds right ? - in a row, shazam will get it if it's in its song database. Playing in underground basements only would be a much more viable option.
Don't take it bad, as I don't mean to be rude nor being trollin', but even if flip is a neat addition -though I'm becoming really fed-up with the in-app purchase business model for extensions- I think the anti-shazam sales argument is a bit lame... my two cents...

Hey RKprodZ,

That wasn't really an argument, just having a laugh man! We didn't build flip to beat shazam, we built it so you could flip tracks and have some fun with it :)
djcrap 12:53 PM - 3 September, 2014
So serious lmao Rkprodz. The anti shamzam mode was a joke ...
RKprodZ 2:35 PM - 3 September, 2014
I perfectly got it guys and it could even have made me laugh. But as I said, I'm just fed up to have to make holes in my wallet for features that should be integral part of what comes with a new major version for a software, in order to keep the user base steady and attract new ones. Hence, my serious replies, nothing personal.
But hey, even if it's not always obvious, I can be a cool guy too :D

You know it also costs us to develop features like this too.

There's a very solid set of Serato DJ features that you get free with supported hardware as well as continued updates. Our Expansion Packs are advanced or specialised features that we like to offer separately so you can pick and choose how simple or complex you want your setup to be.

We just offer things for sale in-app and you have the choice to buy them or not :)

Sam.

Shazam mode.
Put a random sound on top of tracks based on some wacky analysis of the track that people can't here but shazam can?
DjMobi 5:20 AM - 8 September, 2014
When will the great serato add live tweets #okbye
dj wage 8:03 AM - 8 September, 2014
Some one talk me through how to use flip mode please lol
Cap65 6:23 PM - 8 September, 2014
Why are you all so afraid about people "reading" your tracks? 99% of all deejays play the same tracks they have been playing for years. Everybody KNOWS these tracks. Think Guetta. Think Afrojack. No worries. Only 1% of the deejays SEARCH for tracks instead of downloading the Top 10 from Beatport. And to be honest, hardly anybody wants to know about those tracks. So, bye bye AM Mode.

Yep, and DJ's should want to spread good music to people. If you can shazam the track then it's not exactly obscure or exclusive anyway. Plus you can always rename certain tracks.

It's now your choice to do either :)
Agile 11:14 PM - 18 September, 2014
Useless now in this era. Shazam is really hard to stump these days. Pre Shazam, this was a great feature to stop the Train Spotters
Africansoundboy 2:04 AM - 19 September, 2014
Guys how does this shazam thing work, sorry if am abit behind lol.

I dunno man, Shazam can't get at least a quarter of my library - all the interesting stuff from 'DJ producers' :)

Anyway, the main point of including this feature is that a lot of people coming from Scratch Live are really keen on it being in Serato DJ. That's good enough for us!

Africansoundboy - Shazam is an app that 'listens' to the song being played and tells you what it is. www.shazam.com

It was also an amazing music TV show in New Zealand back in the 80s :D Watchwww.youtube.com

Thx Serato.
hologram 11:55 PM - 20 September, 2014
I agree with you putting this in no matter how useful it is in this day and time.
Since you are killing off scratch live, us old scratch live users appreciate you looking out for our feature set that we have become accustomed to.
Dj Uri Dalal 4:52 PM - 26 September, 2014
about time lol during gigs I would always forget how to do it, how I did it - I eventually just started renaming shit and then I couldn't remember the names of ANYTHING lol
DjMobi 12:51 PM - 4 October, 2014
i don't think its about the songs you play, but how you play it. I have heard several d.j's try to spin same set of songs but give different output.
Deejay Skura 3:47 PM - 23 March, 2015
Please how do I activate the am mode on scratch live? I don't use serato DJ...
Serato, Support
Karl Y 3:08 PM - 24 March, 2015
Deejay Skura

click the BPM field in one of the decks
then type 'AM'
you might have to ensure 'playback keys use shift' option is ticked in the setup.

Cheers
Karl
TimHenri 5:03 PM - 14 March, 2016
I can't get this to work in Serato DJ 1.8.2, have you taken this feature away? I really NEED it!
Serato, Support
Aaron E 7:33 PM - 14 March, 2016
Hey TimHenri

AM mode is now a setup screen option under Setup > Library+Display. If you go there and check the box, it will happen automatically.

Cheers

Haha, that's the automagic at work :)
Asu 2:13 PM - 20 December, 2016
seagulls behind me all night...gonna use this def...FYI Shazam will never find DJ specific remixes from different producers...so add AM mode and you're golden.

Why Wasn't This In Serato Dj 2 Begin with @serato? i mean i have used scratch from day1 and still on it and when u morons decided to go to dj and leave us scratch users in the dust (meaning Pro's) to do your consumer BS i fail to understand why that simple easter egg wouldn't have been in the original or second update in SDJ?

sketchy to me man!

btw i don't appreciate trying to being charged another $100 to use SDJ i am an ORIGINAL SSL user i shouldn't have to pay to be migrated to SDJ

i have spent numerous money on sl1 ttm57sl, timecode vynil etc can you stop being greedy and get back to taking care of us Pro Users ?

It's a great feature unless you have a controller with display panels (like the Denon MCX8000 has). AM mode will only hide track information from Serato DJ, however, the controller will display these information.
Tidur 7:08 PM - 8 September, 2017
An interesting feature to have, but not something I ever felt a need for in about 8 years of sets.
DJing isn't about music exclusivity, but about how you control music flow to move your audience.
DJ SAO 2:44 AM - 10 September, 2017
Its cool. Never used it... im here to spread the good tunes... btw if someone likes a track they never heard, they just come ask.. or try and shazam it....
Ive shazamed stuff before..
Btw my cousin beat shazam and won a mill
Sanchero 4:09 AM - 10 September, 2017
I could care less about this Easter egg but I'd care a lot more if you'd work the bugs out of Dj for windows 10. So frustrated that I didn't stay with Mac.
VDJ112 6:48 PM - 24 October, 2017
Hahahaha. playlist poachers......Honestly, Alt+M comes in handy when need be.
DaveVerne 3:24 PM - 5 April, 2018
My left deck is stuck in DJ am mode & I have no idea how to get it off.

This is Serato DJ Pro, there is no option to turn on or off Dj am on set up

- and it’s not as simple as clicking bpm and then Dj am enter like on scratch live, how do u take it off?
pakothiam 1:45 AM - 7 August, 2018
Hi, this doesn’t work my my version. 1.9.6
