I was playing a gig tonight and realized that my right channel was about 20% louder than my left. I thought it might be a cable problem with the club so I troubleshot it the following way:

-Changed the RCA that I was connecting to their house mixer
-Changed the channel that I was plugged into on their house mixer
-Checked the panning, crossfaders, etc. on their house mixer
-Changed my output from the booth to the aux out on my mixer
-Unplugged my booth monitor that was plugged into the xlr out

Nothing worked. I turned the house down and realized that it was the same coming out of my booth monitor.

I finished the night and after everyone had left, I troubleshot more. I put the same track on both decks in internal mode. The pitch was at 0 and my gain and eq's were all at noon. Same thing, right side was louder out of every possible channel. I pushed the channel swap button and the left side was now louder.

Any ideas? I just got this mixer back from the factory.

Have you tested your mixer using normal records or CDs? I'm curious to know if you experience the same problem when not connected through USB
DJ Zimmie 9:12 PM - 23 March, 2009
I have not tested it with vinyl yet. I will do that when I get home.

HOWEVER, I used a different 57 on Saturday night and it did the same thing so it makes me wonder if it's a setting in the program. I don't have any effects on.

Very odd stuff, indeed.

Try different USB ports and a different USB cable.
DJ Zimmie 7:33 PM - 26 March, 2009
Hi.

Tried a different USB cable last night and a different USB port. Same problem.

Anyone? This is totally making my mixes sound horrible.

Have you been able to test your setup using a different computer or TTM 57SL?
DJ Zimmie 9:26 PM - 26 March, 2009
I've used a different 57. I'm pretty sure the problem is in my software or my computer because that seems to be the only variable I can isolate.

What version of OSX are you using and which version of SSL?

Does restarting the computer before using SSL have any affect?
DJ Zimmie 5:21 PM - 27 March, 2009
OSX 10.5.5
SSL 1.8.0 (18048)

Restarting the computer doesn't do anything to help it.

Have you tried the 1.8.3 version of SSL? If not, give it a go and see if it help -->> www.scratchlive.net

Also, there's a new Leopard update 10.5.6, which wouldn't hurt either :)

I'm going to try these, but, my bigger concern is, why did this start happening out of the blue?

Good question, I wish I knew :(

It could be an application updating itself or something, not sure.

Are you using an external hard drive? If so, do you experience the same problem when not using the external drive?
DJ Zimmie 6:44 PM - 27 March, 2009
I am not using an external hard drive.

Last night after my gig I tried running 1.7.4. It worked fine with no problems. What is the latest stable, tested version of Serato that I could try?

The 1.8.3 version should be solid. Have you tried that version yet?
DJ Zimmie 10:57 PM - 20 January, 2010
So last night I realized that my 57 was doing this again. I tried the same track in INTERNAL mode after my gig and it was louder on the right. I can't remember where we left off on the last thread, but I feel like I fixed the problem by turning off an effect or something. I'm now using 1.92 and I updated my 57 hardware to 3.20 and it was still doing it. Any thoughts?

Go into the FX group and make sure both effects (top effect and lower effect) are not assigned to PGM 1 or PGM 2 :)
DJ Zimmie 1:23 AM - 21 January, 2010
That was it. I don't know why it keeps randomly turning on. I never mess with the Serato effects at all.

Try this:

Open SSL

Turn off all Effects

Go to the Hardware tab

Click the Save to Mixer buttons for both Effect

Close SSL and restart.

All effects should remain off :)
