Is there anyway i could keep smart crates in numerical or alphabetical order?

Hey djwillymix,

Follow these steps:

Close Scratch Live > Open Finder > Music > _Serato_ > Delete neworder.pref

This will but your crates in alphabetical order, but whenever you add a new crate, it will drop to the bottom of the list, and you will need to follow the above steps again.

Let me know how that goes :-)

Cheers,
Micah

Note:

There is a bug with the ordering since the implementation of Smart Crates! I have reported it - without success of fixing by Serato.

Just tested again with SSL 2.5 (same issues with SDJ 1.6.3).

1. Smart Crates ordered with empty library, exit SSL

Content of my neworder.pref:

(All are smart crates!)

[begin record]
[crate]10_DF Warm-Up
[crate]11_DF Warm-Up 70's
[crate]12_DF Warm-Up 80's
[crate]20_DF Begin
[crate]21_DF Begin 70's
[crate]22_DF Begin 80's
[crate]30_DF Peak Time
[crate]31_DF Peak Time 70's
[crate]32_DF Peak Time 80's
[crate]41_DF Party
[crate]42_DF Christmas
[crate]43_DF Silvester
[crate]44_DF Surf
[crate]91a_CHECK MSFCL
[crate]91b_CHECK MSFDP
[crate]91c_CHECK MSFQS
[crate]91d_CHECK MSFTR
[crate]92a_CHECK MSVLP
[crate]98a_ERROR Has MSSCF
[crate]99a_ERROR Missing MSF
[crate]99b_ERROR Missing DFS
[crate]99c_ERROR Missing DFT
[end record]

NOTE: ALWAYS close the neworder.pref in the editor - otherwise SSL won't make updates and you can not follow the test!

2. Start SSL, import a few audio files which then will be only in a few smart crates.

3. Exit SSL

Content of my neworder.pref has NOT changed - as above.

4. Start SSL

BUG: Smart crates will be re-ordered! All smart crates which include tracks are at the bottom now! (Bug!)

5. Exit SSL.

Content of my neworder.pref:

[begin record]
[crate]10_DF Warm-Up
[crate]11_DF Warm-Up 70's
[crate]12_DF Warm-Up 80's
[crate]20_DF Begin
[crate]21_DF Begin 70's
[crate]22_DF Begin 80's
[crate]32_DF Peak Time 80's
[crate]41_DF Party
[crate]42_DF Christmas
[crate]43_DF Silvester
[crate]44_DF Surf
[crate]91c_CHECK MSFQS
[crate]91d_CHECK MSFTR
[crate]92a_CHECK MSVLP
[crate]98a_ERROR Has MSSCF
[crate]99a_ERROR Missing MSF
[crate]99b_ERROR Missing DFS
[crate]99c_ERROR Missing DFT
[crate]30_DF Peak Time
[crate]31_DF Peak Time 70's
[crate]91a_CHECK MSFCL
[crate]91b_CHECK MSFDP
[end record]

As you can see - the crates with 30_, 31_, 91a_, 92b_ which include tracks - the others are empty - are out-of-order. => Bug.

I always delete the whole library in SSL before I go djing because i manipulate my tags with Tag & Rename. I always do a lot with the tracks because I get a lot of new better masters of the tracks and re-place the bad with the better master. Finally I drop all and import all again.

Most of time I always import the new tracks (or some others maybe) I got and listen in the office with SSL single player. And here it happens that the order completely changes around. Every time I go djing I have to re-order them.

I also does not help to keep a backup of neworder.pref - because SSL re-sorts it during starting of SSL. :-(

Any chance we get a fix in SSL?

Thanks a lot,

PS: SDJ is currently no choice due the unreadable GUI (bolder fonts, bad single player layout) - SSL is perfect - still using SL1.
