Cue Points: Replace time sig with Text box for small editing

Joshua Carl 3:24 AM - 28 February, 2009
This is something Ive noticed since I started, someone else HAD TO suggest it, but i didnt find it in a search.

That box between the cue;fire and cue;mark/delete buttons
where its usually a time signature of where the cue point it,
well maybe a 8 character editable box so we can change it to
things like : Intro, chrorus, break, 8/16/32/64,bridge ect ect ect

I think this would be huge for djs with huge libraries who want to be able to pull up a track from 20 years ago and instantly know where all the crucial parts, of other notations of a song are...

my $.02

Not a bad idea, but the time of a cue point has its right to be shown, too: I use this at long house music transitions to fastly estimate when to set in a new track so that e. g. the vocal of the new track will be at the right point.
Joshua Carl 1:28 PM - 22 April, 2009
than I guess Toggle on/off would work...
obviously not permanant

Or maybe the time is shown by default, until you type a text in. And if a text label is set for the cue then that one is visible, but hovering with the mouse over the text shows the time.

Suggested this many, many times in other "more cue point" related threads, it's a must serato, come on!!
Vato_Rudo 8:48 PM - 4 January, 2010
or just add the txt box off to the side instead of replacing the time sig (which is pretty useful imo).
SiRocket 12:58 AM - 7 January, 2010
i still would love labeled cue points but i know they will come ;)

they could have it tell you the time as a tooltip if you went over the text.
Joshua Carl 5:18 PM - 21 March, 2011
with Dicers and other controllers being such an integral part of performance
since I posted this 2 years ago this seems like a great option for the guys doing
these mad sets with em.
Billy18bm 5:24 PM - 21 March, 2011
i mean honestly what does the time tell you?
Joshua Carl 8:44 PM - 27 July, 2011
awwwwwwwwwww yeah!!! so does mean its named after me or something???

hahahahahahahaha.
awesome boys!!

w00t!
Sporadik Styles 10:55 PM - 27 July, 2011
I understand the use for this feature and could see them adding this, but with vinyl I didn't sharpie parts of the track. I'd know from hearing the track and looking where the needle is on the vinyl what part of the track it was at. I prefer to feel the music instead of seeing it on a screen while mixing
Joshua Carl 11:18 PM - 27 July, 2011
well, these control vinyls dont have the change in pressing appearance the regular records have when
a track would drop off, or bridge and such.

so its just moving the indications from looking at pressing on a record to the screen.
Sporadik Styles 11:47 PM - 27 July, 2011
I know, but there are gaps and the record is the same lenght everytime.
Joshua Carl 1:01 AM - 28 July, 2011
but those gaps dont coincide with the arrangement of the music...

and I dont know about anyone else, but I generally play in Library mode so theres no wavforms
to tell me when things are coming up in the track
Sporadik Styles 1:12 AM - 28 July, 2011
I understand. I prefer to not stare at a screen also while mixing. My point is something like that was never an issue with vinyl. I could see them adding your feature in the future. I've always just looked at where my headshell is from the start of the rekkid. Now that I think about it though some of us always naturally count bars in our head etc. Some of us don't
Joshua Carl 1:16 AM - 28 July, 2011
Its added in 2.3... hence the woot.

that i one thing i love about my CVs over vinyl is that the pressing mold is consistent.
so many record had super narrow, or super wide grooves so one @ 33 could be a 8 minute track taking
up the entire side of a record... and the next record the grooves are super tight cause they
are squeezing 5 3+ minute tracks on 1 side...boooo!
Sporadik Styles 2:15 AM - 28 July, 2011
I hear ya, I love how the CV are the same everytime. Don't know if you're into (real)HipHop, but remember those old Rawkus vinyls in late 90s LMAO very inconsistent (still love em though), even your doubles wouldn't be the same sometimes thinkness and groovewise sometimes different even when purchase at the same time *smh*. D n' B I always prefer 45RPM so I'll use the B side of the thicker black vinyl with no scroll track, didn't take me long to get used to it

There should be a lock on features that get added, but sticky them at the top of this section until the next release drops

hey dave....

Awesome suggestion Joshua Carl. I just started a thread asking about the ability to label the colors instead of the cue points to help save time with those who have very large libraries. Of course it would be great to edit them individually also but as a time saver I think this would do the trick.
Just thought I would stop by this thread since you seem to be the man behind my favorite new feature.
