Your gauging a 30 year old TT against new Technology I think the 1210 held it's own for 30 year old technology!
dj jamalot 3:34 PM - 18 December, 2013
i'll keep my old technics 1210 mk2's... they have paid for a lot of equipment. besides i just upgraded all the LED's so now their modern...
Detroitbootybass 3:53 PM - 18 December, 2013
It's a an advertising piece... Fong Fong is sponsored by Reloop.

It is neither a technical A/B nor an unbiased review - it's a commercial!
SELECT 4:23 PM - 18 December, 2013
At the end they list the advantages

Reloop

High torq- My slipmats and record choice can change this for me at any time.
2 start, stop buttons- cool feature, but for who? A DMC type routine?
Ultra pitch, lcd- I like the LCD visual of it, but I dont personally need extra pitch control.
Midi pads- very dope, probably the most looked at feature of this unit.
Reverse- no thanks, dont need to hear the devil speak.

those mixers were the shit when they came out, sadly the fader quality was shit also thats why they included a extra one in the box, i never did get one i got a rane 52 instead, still it would be nice to have one with a set of gold 1200gld or 1200ltd
DJJOHNNYM_vSL3 9:49 PM - 18 December, 2013
I bought that jawn because, "eh" it was where the "Technology" was going at the time.

Yep, that extra fader located in the bottom of the mixer went out after 2 weeks also.

I think Nicky had the 2nd or 3rd generation version, with better faders...

After spending 400.00 bucks on a 2 week mixer, I went RIGHT back to the Realistic, slapped a new fader (ordered a few back in the day, maybe 4 or 5 bucks apiece), and was back on my grind.

Again, the ONLY person worried about what another DJ is using is..who?

Another DJ.
Joee 9:52 PM - 18 December, 2013
i was tempted but the rane 52 was a great buy for me, those were the days that i didn't really make money & did not upgrade at all, that thing lasted me 9 years, i sold it and it's still being used today
DJ Quartz 11:11 PM - 18 December, 2013

I can contest to that. I won one in 2003 and our DMC eliminations and I practiced on it after that and both faders bled just over a week of use.

what do you think dj DUMASS?

At this point, with tech and r&d being what it is; it shouldn't been to hard to make a deck that performs as solid as a 1200.

But one thing that can not be measured is endurance.

So it will be interesting to see in ages years how these how up.
For sure; the more moving parts, the more problems.
DJJOHNNYM_vSL3 12:28 AM - 22 December, 2013
It is NOT in the best interest of the company to build a product that lasts a long as a 1200.

Well in this day and age everything is about quantity before quality. I would like for this thing to sell well and maybe drive turntable adaptation or create a new market for newer turntables.

I feel you on this, but if you look at the marketplace of ANYTHING, what has lasted as long as a 1200?

Again, my vote for quote of the year - its a 1200 it'll last longer than most people's dj careers

What happened when Rane built the 57 as stable as it did? And then wanted to put NEW technology out?

Corporations now build things with the expectation that it will eventually fail, and that an upgrade would be necessary.

in general nothing is as it was, 30 years ago products were made to last in todays day and age the already thinking about the next new model before the original is out

THIS^^^

And exactly why if I find something that WORKS, I stick with it, until it becomes costly to maintain, unrepairable, ineffective, or incompatible.
Joee 3:57 PM - 22 December, 2013
true, but still there comes a time were a working dj should upgrade his gear, but agreed buy the right thing and you will have it for a long long time

take for example sl1 or a ttm57…..do you really need to upgrade? even when serato SL is discontinued that don't mean you can't use it, i have a boy that still uses a rane mp4 mixer & they stopped support for this mixer how long ago

the average party goer knows nothing about sound quality & will not know the difference in sound between a tom 57 & a rane 62, the only reason we upgrade soooo much is the want NOT the need to have the latest and greatest

is a out dated version of serato going to play you music any different? i think not…a tm57 & a pair of 12's will serve you well for years to come, but i think the BEST bang for the buck now a days is a ttm56 & sl2
Joee 4:01 PM - 22 December, 2013
one more thing johnny prepare to take that ttm56 to the grave with you cause it will NOT die, i just might outlast you

now comes the question are you going to buy 20 of those and take pictures of all of them together?

Correct, but WHO makes that determination?

The person actually USING the gear, or some other DJ offering HIS opinion of when another DJ needs to "Upgrade"?

A lot of times, cats make suggestions based on the fact that THEY THEMSELVES have spent "X amount of money to upgrade" and feel as though OTHERS should "Invest" in the game like themselves.

However, they MOST TIMES, haven't the slightest clue of what "Really" lasts, and what the CUSTOMER expects.

The CUSTOMER expects us to "Crush It' by any means necessary.

It's not like they're providing a rider of the equipment we should use to commence with said "Crushing".

As long as we get the job done.

DJ's try to gain respect from OTHER DJ's for a myriad of reasons...

Sometimes it's procuring the shiniest new mixer with bells and whistles...

Sometimes it's killing a party with the bare necessities....

This is part of the "ineffective/incompatible" category I mentioned above.

The SL1 and TTM57 had their tombstones engraved when they came out with the SL3. It was a VAST leap in sound quality. For ME, that's an instant reason to upgrade when I already thought the SL1/57 sound quality was suspect. This of course coming from a former vinyl purist.

This of course was WAY before there was any announcement of discontinuing their support. Cats have different triggers for upgrading their equipment. Nobody else can set that threshold for them.

Quote:

Again, that's the DJ in question's prerogative. Nobody elses.

That's not true.

Apparently there are LIBRARY issues with the Serato DJ which WOULD cause you to POSSIBLY play your music differently....

(BTW, I'll wait for all those bugs to get fixed in Serato DJ before I move over.)

We're ALMOST in sync, as I think a TTM56s and an SL3 (and SSL) is the best bang for your buck...well at least for me and my demographic...

And I have been running with that config since the SL3 dropped.

That is the REASON I bought it.

That fader dipped in Coke ad was the clincher.

The life expectancy of the 56s is still yet to be determined.

But what's funny is that it seems to have ALREADY outlasted the 57...(no button complaints, etc..)...in both hardware AND software categories.
DJJOHNNYM_vSL3 5:47 PM - 22 December, 2013
For example, the ONLY reason I bought a Rane 56 was because the STYLE of DJ'ing became extremely oriented around fader tricks and such.

The Realistic simply did not have the type of fader to keep up, you can't do crabs on there.

But there are things I can do on the Realistic that I can't do on the Rane, and vice versa.

If I never posted an actual vid of me on the Realistic, you'd swear I was killing it on a new and improved mixer, not something from 1985.

Same thing with Jazzy Jeff and Cash Money, they could post audio of them killing it on a Gemini, and nobody would EVER know the difference if they didn't see a vid.

And truth be told, they could still do things on that Gemini that cats today can't do on the latest and greatest mixers of now.

ok what the hell are you talking about here? whether i use scratchLive 1.9.2 or serato dj 1.5.2 it does not change the fact that i load a song in the virtual deck & play it

the library issues has nothing to do with how you play your music, witch I've never had by the way serato dj works well for me…..the issue is that some people with large libraries/alot of crates serato dj crashes on them mostly pc users by the way, i think it has something to do with large file paths

all the more reason for YOU to buy a mac ;)

point i was trying to make we can rock out a party whether we are djing with a sl1 and a realistic mixer or a brand new rane 64 the client will be happy either way

Which would cause you to have to ALTER your library, THINK in advance of what you MAY want to play, thus changing HOW you could POSSIBLY play your music, and remove songs that come out as LEAST likely to play based on your thought process.

You're thinking of the sheer technical aspect of loading a track, vs. the "on the fly" programming tactics of some DJ's who may program based on how the mood hits them.

That effectively changes HOW they may play.

Again you catering to the client FIRST vs. catering to YOURSELF first.

If you as a DJ want to put out a Quality Sounding performance, then something like the difference of SL1 vs. SL3 means everything to you.

Another DJ cannot discount what a different DJ should view as Important.

Hence, what now has happened is that the DJ who now achieves the sound quality they want may perform better knowing that they're giving their "client" the BEST that they could give them, from their perspective.

I have Windows 8, i3, 1.1 USB device (SL1), and no issues. And I'm running 0 buffer latency. *shrugs*

Windows 8 is now supported.......
Joee 2:40 PM - 23 December, 2013
"Windows 8 and 8.1 are not currently supported for use with Serato software. There are many users running Serato software with Windows 8 and 8.1 without problem, but official support for an Operating System takes time due to the rigorous testing required.

We are working towards our software supporting Windows 8 and 8.1 by fixing issues as they come up and furthering our testing. We are happy for users to test their setups with Windows 8 and 8.1, but until we are certain of their reliability we recommend that users don't perform using them. "
the SOUNDINSURGENT 3:49 PM - 23 December, 2013
OK I use the wrong word, I should of said 'it is compatible with windows 8'.........

Things like this could give the wrong impression when it comes to Windows 8,

Could it possibly be that there are MORE WINDOWS users than Mac users which are skewing the numbers?

But that's YOU....Feel me?

For example, let's take a DJ that loves to do "Remixes" on the fly...

Let's say someone want to do, "Wheels Of Steel"...

Due to library constraints, they MAY not have enough room on their harddrive to include Good Times, Another One Bites The Dust, Rapture, Birthday Party, 8th Wonder, Monster Jam, Apache, Freedom, and Life Story.

He'd just be left with playing the Original "Wheels Of Steel" vs. a remix using those 8 additional joints....assuming he's use MOST of them only for remix purposes...

Can you imagine Enferno having that limitation? Jazzy Jeff?

C'mon son....

Technics MK2 Vs Reloop RP8000

carry on ;)

Techs have done well...if the RP-8000 is well made...it'll take over....but in the end...we need another option...something that's like a turntable, with vynl you never have to change, generates it's own time code signal/HID ,no tone arms , change of cartridges, full color screen like on the Nexus and able to read USB drives,Networkable..it'd sell really well.

The reason i suggest this option is because most of us who love TT's use time code...never play real records on them...so buying cartridges and dealing with tone arms, is kinda of a waste.

what do you guys think...a digital Turn table...i'd buy one asap with the specs i listed

i figured out the problem...it's itunes trying to take charge and serato doing the same lol...make sure itunes is closed then eject otherwise it wouldn't come out lol
d:raf 12:46 AM - 29 June, 2014
I figured that one out; this was something different. Whenever I tried to play off a CD (which was only a couple of times, granted, but I wasn't gonna give it a third go) the waveform could never keep up with the playhead, even if I waited for it to build the track's overview before playing. As a result the audio would play for a couple of seconds, drop out, play for another couple of seconds, drop out, etc. until the track was done.

This was back in 2011-2012 so it may have been fixed by now (it worked great in Itch).
DJ Johnny Bertone 4:19 PM - 7 September, 2017
