Cool mix especially the way he uses the ipad to trigger samples. What is the add-on needed to do this? I have the full Serato DJ version that came with my DDJ-SX but just purchased a Pioneer WeGo for ceremonies and didn't realize I would need to purchase another license to unlock the full version. I hope I can get a freebie here! Love the software, keep up the good work!!!!

Very skilfully done, one of my favorite mixes is from DJ Gio from Guardian Sound as he does his Showtime Bashment Riddim Mix!!! If you both collaborated, I can only imagine how explosive the combination could and would be!!!! Much love……DJ Panama!

Awesome display of the software and hardware integrations, I was especially impressed with the ability to add a tablet controller in addition to the dedicated deck. It's seamless, but definitely adds another dynamic to the mix. Would love to see the video capabilities demonstrated!

Love this minimix, I'm not a huge fan of effects but I do love a good sample. However it's great seeing an example of what using effects can sound like and it work really well?
I guess they've come so far now that when used correctly they can really add to a set, as seen here.
Anyway the SX looks amazing! I'm using a multitude of 1200's and also a Mixtrack pro but on multi monitors using SSL and DDJ at the same time off my MBP.
After seeing this it's time to start selling some of my gear, and the beauty if it is, after a night at the club I can bring it home and it will replace my mixer as I can plug my 1200's in! I'd seen the iPad app too but didn't realise how good it looked, it fits in nice with iOS7.
Nick, to be honest I hadn't seen your stuff before, but I'm loving what you're doing, and will def keep an eye out for you travelling to Adelaide!

I always the like new technology, but it changes so quickly. By the time that you get accustomed to using hardware/software, there's a new version. It can be a real problem if you're playing out different locations and have no control over the equipment at the bar/club.

Don't get me wrong, I like the new technology, but I think that it often limits newer DJs without them realizing it. To fully use the equipment, you'll need to have (mostly) everything prepped... and stick to your set. I use to do 3-4 hour sets on the fly. I had a general idea of what I wanted to do, but wasn't confined by particular songs.

Maybe I'm just getting old.

The song i like is Salva 'Drop That B'
and te mix was the 3rd transition.... My favourite ramen place is Nativa Bambu..... I try to do a similar mix... this one was too nice.... the ddj SX is all.... and Serato elevates to the next level the mixes...!!!!

I'll always use vinyl turntables till I die, but this inspires me to push the envelope more and maybe invest in one of these one day just to see what happens! Love the mix, done very well!

Very nice. I've been wanted to see how to utilize all the features more. My roomate owns one, I use scratch live with 2 tech 12s and a nexus 900, but I've been messing with his controller more when I get bored with the Tech 12s. This was a great demo to show off features you know the controller can do, but were not sure how to do it proper. I'm going to mess around with it more often now that I get the features better. I'm still not sold on the the effects of the controller, but I'll give them another shot.

I run a DJ workshop in Australia for disengaged youth and use the DDJ SX as my main performance and teaching tool. The indigenous kids I have taught, have really caught the DJing bug and their potential to become DJ's after a couple of community events has really expanded. They are all in awe, not only of the technology and equipment but the potential to change their lives through music and DJing. I have recently brought another DDJ SX for the purpose of teaching, however we have need for another full Serato License with Video plugin. Having this resource would enable me to spread the good news of DJing and also change some lives. If we were one of the 10 successful applicants, I would send updates on the progress of participants to show case the influence of Serato and DJing.

I have a vestax vci-400, I love how these controllers have the 4 channel capability. Nick, you did an amazing job showcasing the effects. Showing the innovation, that controllers aren't b.s. and can actually perform will hopefully show the turntable haters that there's potential in the controller world. I love the second to last track, and I know the iPad app works on wifi, but is your laptop setup to ad-hoc mode or are both laptop and iPad connected to a router in the building. Curios because some venues don't have wifi and I'm assuming it would work in ad-hoc. Getting one ordered as we speak. If there are any video licenses left, I could use one.

P.S. Know where I can get some original siren effects?

Loved it and love this controller. I have been a mobile DJ for 15 years with schools and weddings but am just getting into production and performance. I'm watching every video I can find. This guy was great and I love Serato! It's the cleanest looking professional DJ software on the market.

Nice set, Hook. You hear so many people these days talk about how technology takes away from the artistry of DJing. In some cases, maybe many cases, that's true. But, as you can see in this video, Serato and the latest technology allow for MORE artistry when used correctly.

Been DJ'in for more than 20years. The partnership & collaboration on the DDJ-SX with Serato is monumental. Nick's demo is pretty cool and he shows off the capabilities, and there's enough examples for others to mix in with their own creativity. Pretty cool.

That was a dope mix. I love the use of the iPad with DDJ-SX. Very clean mix. Very effortlessly done. Right now I am still feeling Pizza Guy by Touch Sensitive, Fav mix is live at the Sex Machine by J-Rocc, Boom Noodle (Seattle) and I like Toast.

Haha this video makes me wish I had a SX!
But my favorite part was around 2:30, where you could really see all the technology being used on a not to simple, not too complicate controller and iPad app.

I mean it just really shows how serato as a company and group of djs is evolving WITH djs, but isn't forgetting their earlier roots which is a simple software for turntabist. Sure the competition is all about controllers and software and crazy affects, mixers,samples, bla bla bla. Serato made all of that, while STILL keeping their good name in turntables.

So congrats to you serato for keeping both modern dj controllers and turntables in mind.

I've gotta say Mammoth by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike is my favourite track. It just makes you feel like you can do anything! Also any mix Diplo drops is great, his radio 1 xtra show is keeping the moombahton scene alive in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong - I've been a serato user for several years now - and an advocate of music technology as a positive creative force for longer - but how does this footage really showcase the technology here?
If you know the tracks you might have some idea of what's happening - but if you really want users to understand the potential of what the kit can do you're also gonna need another video where he actually explains what he's doing. Otherwise it looks a bit like a carefully rehearsed dance routine... ;-)

What can I say about the ddj sx and serato dj that hasn't already been said above? How about a crossfader that dosn't work properly, constant background noise, usb dropouts, the fact its not compatible with Amd chips, even with Intel chips there are still issues, it doesn't like Windows 8 in fact just buy a mac book pro! I am sick of seeing videos where everything works intuitively where in reality the whole platform is totally unreliable in my opinion. Pioneer and serato must try harder

These Controllers Are So Damn Convenient. Now only if they could bake Serato inside no computer or Ipad needed just a Hard drive.

The best part of the video was the whole video because i love mixing/taking a class on it and how he was sampling and mixing live shows great skill that i must have...the way he looped each track and cued in samples taking them in and out.catching different phares/instruments of the track adding effects was the Truth.....made it look like a walk in the park..the drop-ins and out was clean/i also like how all of the effects are accessible at your finger tips also..makes the mixing easier....Thanks for the Motivation

Not only did "The Red Mamba," use all of the features a that come with the Pioneer DDJ-SX. But he also incorporated the new serato Dj app for the iPad. I really enjoyed this short mix, I liked how he used very different genres in music to show his versatility. All in all a great performance video of the Pioneer DDJ-SX.

Awesome, DDJ-SX is pretty good, has a whole bunch of features, I loved that he mixed various genres, I loved Drop that B !, this controller is pretty good I love it, I also love that he mixed without headphones, thats pretty awesome, me myself I can't be mixing without a pare of headphones, he used the remote at the beginning to, loving this, I love Serato DJ, nothing else can be compared with it, I wish I could use Serato DJ right now but my trial version is over. This is just great.

Had the piece and the program since it came out and haven't looked back. Been too busy with all the gigs I'm getting and recording mixes/new tracks to put online - all right through Serato DJ.

Do yourself a favor and get one. You'll be amazed at what you can do and how much fun it is. A bunch of my turntablist buddies already picked up one for themselves.

I love the whole video and I really love the combination with all the new controllers. My favorite track this week is "Things I Do" of Edu Imbernon but I really love everything that Fatboy Slim does...!!

Serato DJ is fire. and i'm waiting on my DDJ in the mail right now. still keeping my NS7 though. and that Ferg track smashes any club, any scene, any genre. every DJ should have some Ferg in their mix if they keep up with the hype. One love from the #OG fwm. cause i'll forever be on team Serato..

Great use of the features, and peripherals. Very accurate drops and mix. Been wanting one of these units for a while, possible replacement to my poor tired little vestax vci 300 (the first one) he he. love watching the dj braindead ddj-sx demo video, sick!!!! Hola amigos, soy nuevo en esto, me apasiona el ser DJ... LLevo más de un año invitado a fiestas, reuniones familiares y creánme que ha sido un giro maravilloso en mi vida. Disfruto hacerlo y veo que Nick también lo hace en esta corta pero muy instructiva sesión... Tengo una TRAKTOR MIXTRAPRO con la que estoy enfrentando todo tipo de generos y me apunto a que complementando con lo que hace Nick yo tengo futuro :)... Serato he querido probarlo honestamente, pero no me da la chance de hacerlo con videos y realmente me gustaría ganarme esta licencia para hacerlo y dedicarme a trabajar con Videos en SERATO VIDEO, porque con MP3 es una BACANADA... Gracias y una buena mezcla pa´todos...

this set was dope. really good use of all the features and serato remote. if this isnt your cup of tea thats fine, but give respect where respect is due its easy to watch a comment and post rants but actually putting a 3 minute set together with the samples and tracks to showcase the tech is easier said than done!! mad respect to nick.

My favourite decks are the DDJ-SX. I LOVE that it's native to Serato and the performance pads add some real flare to a set, and let's be honest it's a damn sexy controller! Pioneer did a great job on it and it's just got so much to offer. I love it.

Purchased the DDJ-SX two weeks ago and it has been such a step up in performance and Sound Quality over my old NI setup.
Had some doubts initially about Serato software but they are well gone. The interface grows on you and it didn't take me long to realise that all the "window dressing" of other products is completely pointless.
Keep it simple, plain and to the point Serato. Good Job

Why some of the negativity from people on here???

I have been a Dj for 20 years now, starting on crappy KAM decks until I could afford a pair of Vestax PDX-2000's, and I really embraced the technology which we had available at the time.

Then CDJ's made an appearance, so once I'd accepted the fact this was the way technology was going, I made the move over using both Vinyl and CD until the Turntable started to become a minority in most clubs/venues.

My current set up is a pair of CDJ-2000's and a DDJ-SX, and I'm loving it. I've has an S2 and S4, and the SX is by far the better controller.

So many Dj's get onto these forums shouting that the laptop Dj is not a proper Dj and to some level I agree. I think that if you do know how to actually mix, you get so much more out of the technical side of Digital Djing.

I do also know that most Dj's I know and have played along side (including famous Dj's) that use CDJ Technology set the BPM on the Digital Display and then make minor adjustments to perfect the mix.

What's the difference there to Sync Mixing?????

Either way, I can only show Serato DJ including the DDJ-SX a whole lotta love, this controller is a game changer in the Digital DJ world, a I welcome more from Serato, Well done you!!!

I Scratch live with SL3 and ddj sx .been serato through and through for about 6 years now maybe more. love the ease of connecting up my ddj sx in a venue and what it can do. its always great to watch videos like this ,even though it may not be the kind of stuff i play out, as its all about having fun and trying new tricks .

I really liked the set i thought it was pretty good, myu favorit part was 1:20 minutes in till 2mins i realy like the echo and how he mixed the ladys voice in to it. I just starting to Dj and i like seeing other peoples work and trying to find my own flow so keep it up man id like to hear more of you.

That was dope for 3 minutes duke. Love to hear you burn for like an hour, see what it do. I'm fornicating up mixes on Serato Dj. Neva used that piece of equipment DDj-SX looks funky doe. I didn't recognize any tunes, Kinda seamless or maybe I'm just old. Rock'n with no headphones ? not there yet. Just moved to Seattle and my new shit is Vietnamese food Whoa!

This video inspires me to record my own. Serato and its partners do a great job bringing all the peices together. I am setting up the camera lights and the system as we spike.

your not a true DJ If you only like one kind of music and you hate on other people for the kind of music they play. its about the skill and creativity. apparently you cant see that. A true DJ is open to all kinds of music and doesnt complain. if you only like one genre of music and hate rap then maybe you should quit, sell your equipment, and take up a different hobby lol

Sweet Mix!! I've been rockin a DDJ S1 for the last year and a half and I love it but I will admit I am a little jealous of the ease of all the new features and especially the 4 decks on the DDJ SX but with Serato DJ 1.3 and Serato Video I'm still lovin my controller!! Keep up the good work guys!!!

I love the video, not my type of music but i respect the skills. I was using Virtual DJ, stepped up and bought a DDJ-S1 to test out Serato. Now I'm kicking myself for not buying the SX. All I need now is the video licenses to be back in the game.

Awesome Set! Cant wait to compare the DDJ-SX to the NS7 mk II. I made the transition to Video about 2 years ago and I wish I did it sooner. Any DJ that has not yet, SHOULD! Definitely have to pick one of these up in the near future.

Currently using Serato Scratch Live guess I have to go to Serato DJ to use this controller.

Nice skills, Nick. I've been mixing with the DDJ-SX for over a year now and although there are a few things I prefer on the Traktor S4 (e.g. they have a wicked gate efx function), I still think it's the best combination out there.
