You are from Chicago and don't know "Steppers Music"???

From your first post, seems more like a Stepper crowd than a Old School party crowd. Make sure you know before the gig.

You can play some old school for Steppers, but they need Stepper Music first. That list The General posted is pretty much on point but maybe some other Chicago peeps can chime in.
CHICAGO KID 4:25 AM - 17 November, 2008
I do know steppers music OF COURSE!! South Side baby!! Im making sure I don;t miss nothing!!
Dj K.Smith 9:48 PM - 17 November, 2008

Wow....that Janet song sounds exactly like Avila Bros "I want you" which woul definitely be another song with this vibe. After five seconds of hearin this track, I knew the Avilas produced it. Good lookin...I never heard this track before.

So is steppin more about the vibe than the actual BPM?
Dj K.Smith 5:10 PM - 18 November, 2008
I don't think BPM as much, more the vibe and the groove of the track... U Know What's Up is a party song to me... That's a smooth R&B cut for real...
Dj K.Smith 5:12 PM - 18 November, 2008
The obvious is R. Kelly's Happy People album... Any other "step" albums out there like that?
typerel 6:16 PM - 18 November, 2008

That song was huge for the ballroom hustle crowd here in detroit (our steppers). I've been thinking of doing a steppers/hustle mixed Cd before the end of the year with songs like that.

I'll unpack my Serato Mac from the weekend and pull up my Crate/Playlist with that stuff. I need to update it anyway with a few things, good opportunity to do it.

I'll post up later tonight.
DJ Art Pumpin Payne 1:05 AM - 19 November, 2008
Some chick had me do a Comp CD a few years ago with all the popular line dance/stepper songs from Detroit so she and her girls could practice the popular ones, this is what was on that:

Just In Case - Jahiem
Wifey - Next
Step In The Name of Love - R Kelly
Staten Island Groove - Down To The Bone
Booty Call (original remix)- Blackstreet
My Eyes Don't Cry - Stevie Wonder
Cha Cha Slide - Casper
Keep Pushin' - Boris Dlugosch
Plastic Dreams- JayDee
God Made me Phunky - Mike Dunn f. M.D. X-press
Freak It - Lathun (Bad Girl Hustle - Watchwww.youtube.com )

The ones in BOLD will probably only work in Detroit with specific line dances attached to each one.

This was before the Cupid Shuffle and the Turbo Hustle, I guess a new one that they will be bugging me about soon is the fucking Obama Hustle if it catches on...

Watchwww.youtube.com

(hopefully the younger crowd won't ask for it - only 40 and ups)
DJ Art Pumpin Payne 1:12 AM - 19 November, 2008
I'll still post up my Crate/playlist later.
R-Tistic 1:13 AM - 19 November, 2008
^^Hmm...Freak it from Lathun actually has a dance step in FLorida too.
