This can be caused by Drives that are Formatted as NTFS or it could also be due to a corrupt Database file.

To rebuild the Database - see here: serato.com

As for the MP4 files freezing during analyzing, most the time this can be due to too many files being analyzed at once. To avoid this, try analyzing in smaller chunks.
TICO28092 12:05 AM - 18 July, 2013
Hard drives are formatted MAC OS EXTENDED (JOURNALED)

I deleted the whole _serato_ folder & kept the subcrates folder.

and the MP4 still freeze even if i do in amounts of 20

Crashes when you OPEN Videos? Did you mean Play Videos? Or what did you mean by Open?

Does it always crash on the same Videos? Or is it always different Videos? If you do not click on the Video button to activate the Video Plug-in -- does it still cause a crash?
TICO28092 7:21 PM - 28 July, 2013
It crash on the same videos, im still going through all my videos to see if theres any more that makes it crash,

thank you for the help

Are you sure your Drive is not NTFS? Or maybe the Tags being scanned are files on the Internal Drive?
TICO28092 5:09 PM - 7 August, 2013
Yes i double check it is mac OS EXTENDED. JOURNALED
& its only the stuff saved on my EXTERNAL HD =\

RafaelM 5:11 PM - 7 August, 2013
Ok try this, if you change the name of the _Serato_ folder to _Serato_OLD2

Now open the program, is it empty? It should be empty with no music at all at this point...
TICO28092 9:54 PM - 7 August, 2013
yes i did that also, and kept the subcrates folder & put it on the new _serato_ folder
Rane, Support
RafaelM 11:57 PM - 7 August, 2013
Do not do that.

Rename the Serato folder and thats it. I will follow with instructions.

Is the program empty after you rename the _Serato_ folder and do nothing else?
TICO28092 1:06 PM - 8 August, 2013
ok i did it
renamed it to _Serato_OLD2 it loaded only the music on the internal HD ..2 seconds and it was ready to go... what would the next step?

thank you for helping me.

RafaelM 5:05 PM - 8 August, 2013
No problem :)

Rename the _Serato_ folder on the Internal HD to _Serato_OLDINT

Now is the program empty?

I want to make sure the program is empty so we can start fresh. We will make it read 5 Crates at a time from the external HD and see how it reacts every time you make it read 5 new Crates.
TICO28092 1:28 AM - 9 August, 2013
Ok its done
Its empty no crates no music!!
Its showing ALL, ALL AUDIO & ALL VIDEOS

=o whats gonna happen to my crates??
Rane, Support
RafaelM 3:53 PM - 9 August, 2013
We are about to start putting them back 5 at a time.

Go into the External HD and make your own folder called _Serato_
Go inside of that folder and create another folder called Subcrates

Now, get out of there and go into _Serato_OLD2
Go in the Subcrates folder
Grab the first 5 Crates and put them in the new _Serato/Subcrates folder you made

Now open Scratch Live - are those 5 crates showing up?
TICO28092 5:59 PM - 9 August, 2013
Ok, its done.

it read the tags, closed serato & open it again ...1 sec it was ready to go.

whats the next step?
Rane, Support
RafaelM 6:09 PM - 9 August, 2013
Grab 5 more Crates and put them in there, test again. Keep going. Eventually you will get to a chunk of 5 that will cause the issue.
TICO28092 6:34 PM - 9 August, 2013
Ok i will do that, ill let know how it goes . Thanks
Rane, Support
RafaelM 6:37 PM - 9 August, 2013
Sounds good.
TICO28092 6:45 PM - 9 August, 2013
So far i found 1 crate making it read tags when i open serarto, what should i do now?
Rane, Support
RafaelM 7:03 PM - 9 August, 2013
You will have to rebuild that Crate.

Let it load, make a new crate, put those songs in the new crate, delete the old crate.
TICO28092 7:23 PM - 9 August, 2013
ok, i did i replace the crate with a new name but same songs and still making it read all the tags?
TICO28092 7:24 PM - 9 August, 2013
and deleted the old one

TICO28092 9:03 PM - 12 August, 2013
Ok thanks
Rane, Support
RafaelM 9:13 PM - 12 August, 2013
Did that help at all? If not, it would be an issue with a song within that Crate.
TICO28092 9:58 PM - 16 August, 2013
ill let you know tomorrow..!

RafaelM 10:30 PM - 16 August, 2013

TICO28092 6:45 PM - 19 August, 2013
Now how do i find the file thats messin up my crate? Because im still getting the reading tags for a long time
Rane, Support
RafaelM 7:53 PM - 19 August, 2013
Same process. Track down the file that is causing the issue by using the process of elimination.
TICO28092 10:28 PM - 19 August, 2013
Umm i dont get it, would you please explain me how
Rane, Support
RafaelM 10:54 PM - 19 August, 2013
Well it would all depend how many songs are in that crate. You could write them down and delete them all. Re import them back in 1 by 1.

You could also build a new crate, put some of those songs in that new crate, delete the old crate and keep repeating this process until you get to the file causing the issue.

Etc.
TICO28092 1:03 AM - 20 August, 2013
oh man this is gonna be a mission.....
TICO28092 2:56 PM - 23 August, 2013
Ok i tryed doing it, still with the problem. When i loaded the crate that i thought it was giving me problems it would start up with out reading the tags, did it with all the crates by it self & no problem, & loaded all the crates & boom the reading tags is back, i analyzed the files & it was giving me problems with 2 files, deleted them & still getting the reading tags =\ i want to give up man.

RafaelM 5:08 PM - 23 August, 2013
Something keeps corrupting the Database file. Are you properly disconnecting the drive when you are testing this? Or are you simply closing the Serato program? Do you have another Drive you can test with?
TICO28092 6:51 PM - 23 August, 2013
When im done djin, this what i do

1. Close serato
2. Eject ext HD
3. Shut down computer

I do have an extra HD but it does the same thing
TICO28092 6:59 PM - 23 August, 2013
Loading time 10 mins 28 sec *__*

RafaelM 7:36 PM - 23 August, 2013
Are you pressing the eject button in the software or are you dragging the external HD icon to the eject button?
TICO28092 4:34 PM - 25 August, 2013
I click eject on the icon in the desktop
TICO28092 3:25 PM - 26 August, 2013
What should i do now? =\
Rane, Support
RafaelM 4:21 PM - 26 August, 2013
Try a different hard drive or reformat this drive. The Database file is getting corrupt every time, you will not be able to solve it unless you find out whats causing that corruption.

I suspect the drive to be the cause.
TICO28092 1:26 AM - 27 August, 2013
ok ill save all my music in other HD and ill reformat the drive... hopefully this will fix the problem. its driving me nuts....

I moved all my music to my internal HD & still the same!
Rane, Support
RafaelM 7:20 PM - 30 August, 2013
I have no idea what is going on.
Leave the external disconnected.
Rename the _Serato_ folder on the Internal HD to _Serato_OLD
Open the Scratch Live Program - it will be empty
Make a new crate
Put 10 songs in it
Test it now - is the same thing happening?
TICO28092 10:55 PM - 31 August, 2013
Ok i will do that
DJ Reflex 1:45 AM - 10 April, 2014
I am having the exact same issue! It seems, however that there is no particular video file that is causing the issue. Seems so random.
Rane, Support
RafaelM 6:18 PM - 10 April, 2014
Try these steps:

Leave the external disconnected.
Rename the _Serato_ folder on the Internal HD to _Serato_OLD
Open the Scratch Live Program - it will be empty
Make a new crate
Put 10 songs in it
Test it now - is the same thing happening?
DJ Reflex 10:10 PM - 10 April, 2014
It seems to only happen with video files. When I've done this (just this week) with audio files, Serato loads properly and does not read all the tags upon opening. All my files are on the internal hard drive.

So I tried it and it worked. Only about 10-15 songs loaded into a single crate with no issues. I even threw a video file in for good measure! :) What's the next step? Should I just keep inserting songs / videos until I come across the problems again? I'd hate to do process of elimination for 9,000 songs and 800 videos. Yikes!
Rane, Support
RafaelM 7:41 PM - 14 April, 2014
Unfortunately it sounds like thats the only option for now. Load all the audio first. Close the program and re open. Then load all the Videos.
DJ Reflex 11:32 PM - 14 April, 2014
Yup! I spent the weekend checking all my music files (MP3 Scan + Repair) and discovered about 30-40 files that might have been giving me issues. Fixed all those and reloaded Serato with fresh folder. I also rebuilt all my crates (only 10 that I use primarily).
Turns out - it worked. I've been opening/closing Serato several times and so far everything loads as it should. It no longer reads all the tags and erases the "Added Dates". I have a feeling I'm missing a few songs here and there and it will probably take me a few months to completely rebuild my popular crates, but I did find out that Macs are fussy when it comes to the files.

Now for the next issue... videos. They still give me issues.

Thanks for your help. Any suggestions on the video files? I have some encoded through Handbrake, but not all. Anyway to tell which ones might be giving me issues? Serato scans everything with no Corrupt file icons.

RafaelM 7:25 PM - 16 April, 2014
Video is a whole different beast. I would get in contact with Serato regarding that. You may need an update or codec in order to avoid issues and we dont handle the Video support here at Rane - so its hard to say whats going on.

Serato should def be able to look deeper into it. They can be reached at Support@Serato.com
DJ Reflex 10:56 PM - 16 April, 2014
Gotcha - I figured that. Already have a help ticket started! LoL

Thanks.
