Sample Junkie thread

DJ Alkemy 1:44 AM - 4 July, 2013
Thought I would make a thread for all us older, sample digging heads. Don't really like stuff like this to be honest but with the internet not keeping anything secret these days I thought what the hell.

What's your favourite sample flips?...here are a few of mine...some being obvious lol

From my favourite track of all time, bar none:

Yeah, Kanye can dig out some abstract samples. A pity he is such a douche because he can definitely bring the heat...well, he used to.

Just goes to show what a proper producer listens to in his spare time. Some shit would be classed as uncool lol.

And came up with this: soundcloud.com

I listen to so much stuff from all walks of life, thats the beuty of music, it can transcend any barriers. Racial, cultural etc.

Most people probably know this one, but I love the story of how he found the sample, and I think Primo is a genius just for using it.

I remember hearing this on the radio a few years back and couldn't believe it when I heard it.

How did you not know that!. That was an awesome sample. Very simple but also very effective.

Glad this thread came to life.

Another great sample was the sample Black Milk used for Slum Village-The Reunion.

Both sample and flip in the same video

Ahh, great thread. Underground and Old School hip hop are my passion, but since I started DJ'ing I haven't really been able to enjoy these sounds cause it's not what I play. Hell I haven't listened to any hip hop I consider GOOD in a few months. This thread made me throw on Violent By Design, one of my favorites of all time. So this is my contribution to the thread.

Heavenly Divine by JMT, sampled by Stoupe. One of the most melodic, beautiful & sick samples to be turned into a hip hop track IMO.

normally at mobile gigs, i usually play sampled smooth jazz records during setup/guest arrival/dinner

Guess Who's Back (Rakim) - Shamboozie (Bob James)
Rise (Herb Alpert) - Hypnotize (The Notorious B.I.G.)

etc
