Finally a new set from him...... It was great
phonze 4:37 AM - 9 June, 2013
I just DL'd this, haven't gone through it all yet but it's been pretty dope so far.
Esco... 10:12 AM - 9 June, 2013
Just looking at the tracklist is impressive. I wish I had all this musical knowledge and actually be able to rock a crowd like this.
Matt E Boots 11:54 AM - 9 June, 2013
Thanks for the link. Jeff kills it as usual.

What makes it so great is that I actually do know and have 99 percent of the tracks on that list. But how Jazzy puts it all together like that, and blends it all so smoothly is amazing. I probably would have train wrecked at some point.

Yeah have to agree, he fully justifies the hype.

Does anyone know the instrumental he puts the Stevie Wonder over at the beginning?

I'm pretty sure its a loop of Do It Til Your Satisfied by BT Express. Or maybe Addictive by Truth Hurts.
phonze 7:46 PM - 9 June, 2013
It's basically a modified sample of the first few seconds of B.T. Express - Do It Till your satisfied. Truth Hurts - Addictive instrumental would be it if it didn't have the whole bollywood sample over it.
Crump 9:55 PM - 9 June, 2013
Ahhhh, thought I recognised it. Thanks guys.
Crump 9:56 PM - 9 June, 2013
Was that version of Party Groove 22 mins in ever released?

It's not on the Soul Clap EP.

Skillz seriously ruining this for me

I wasn't feeling the MC'ing at all. It is cool in MODERATION. I was spinning one night and one of the bouncers had his boy come in, apparently he was a DJ too. So he comes up to me and asks to hype me up on the mic. So I though, cool, shout me out once, whatever. Gets on the mic and starts saying "uhhh, yea, that's right" while I was playing Function.... So I mix into the next song and then politely tell him, dude I don't need an MC. Guess he didn't get the message and keeps on doing all these bullshit grunts and ish, so I turned off the mic. Finally got the message, put it down, and never bothered me again.
DJDBAG 2:21 AM - 11 June, 2013
Skilz, the most unnecessary hype man in show business
DJ Alkemy 2:25 AM - 11 June, 2013
I don't mind it as much. Probably if your at the gig its okay but it don't transmit well just listening to it. I think most DJs have a hypeman just to have a recognisable face around when they are on tour a lot.
phonze 3:30 AM - 11 June, 2013
It's probably cool live. I'd like Jazzy and the Fresh Prince to do a Do Over set though. One day maybe.

yeah, its kind of an expected thing in live hip hop sets. or dnb.

"Dubstep / Trap thing **UNKNOWN**" after Oliver $ is actually Hudson Mohawke - Thunder Bay. Great tune!
Cisco El Nino 7:28 AM - 11 June, 2013
Ginuwine - Pony (Acapella)
Dubstep track **UNKNOWN** --> Waka Flacka Flame – Hard In Da Paint (Crizzly Remix)
Just Blaze & Baauer - Higher
Cisco El Nino 7:32 AM - 11 June, 2013
*Flocka ... is there an edit/delete post here??
phatbob 9:46 AM - 11 June, 2013
I'm not a big fan of MCs (Dynamite & Conrad being notable Drum & Bass exceptions for me), but having seen Jeff spin a few times, I actually reckon Skillz actually adds a lot to the set in a live setting.

Especially as he obviously knows what Jeff is going to spin next a lot of the time, so they work very well together, rather than just having some guy chatting random shit with no relevance to the music.

Having a hype man also seems to be very O.G hip-hop to me, too. Keeping at least two of those four elements together...

Exactly!. Anyone who has experienced most Jungle / Garage MC's will appreciate Skillz keeps it pro and knows when to shut up. Also to Jeffs own admission he never looks up from the laptop / decks so Skillz is vital for the crowd interaction element.

Jeff and Skillz are a perfect team live!

they really need to record these sets without recording the mic... shouldn't be that hard to do...

Will08272 2:23 AM - 15 June, 2013
Pardon the drunkness, but im listening to this set again for like the 3rd time and do sets like these get improvised or is there some kind of planning to this.

I figure it's rough planning. Like...he plans 3-6 song transitions, but not like the whole two hours straight through. I have heard him do 5-6 mini-sets from this set here at two other clubs...the whole West Coast set, the Big Pimpin original track, the Waka Dubstep part, the However do you want it part, and Skillz always does that freestyle over the Jay/Kanye beat.

If the mic is plugged into the main mixing board and not the DJ mixer, and it's recorded from the DJ Mixer outs...yea, that's super easy. I guess they don't do it that way though.

All about my copy of MC Breed's "Aint No Future" making it over the Atlantic then snapped in half and shoved through the letter box.

Ha, Reason why I have been turning down the club scene during the summer. DJing outside at cookouts, family reunion, gathering, etc is the best thing right now. You can play a variety of music
DJ Dynamight 1:36 PM - 12 August, 2013
I finally listened to the audio...really dope set.
DJ GaFFle 4:43 PM - 12 August, 2013
It got really distorted for the last 30 minutes or so. Not sure if Jeff was Christmas tree'ing his mixer levels or the sound guy.
AustinG 3:33 PM - 14 August, 2013
Mad "Skillz," his MC is actually a very respected ghost writer in the industry according to my MC. Anyone have any info on skillz?

Skills is a little overbearing when you listen to the audio... It is probably great live. But I was thinking last night that if they eliminate him on the audio, someone could just download that set and show up with his laptop somewhere, run that and pretend to push some buttons. Grab a few more of these sets and there you have the entire night. I'm thinkin that is also why Skillz makes sure to say Jazzy Jeff. You know damn well some asshole will grab this and use it and take the credit for it. A DJ might recognize the mix, but the people in the crowd... Kinda like back in the day when a radio station would feature a type of music or local DJ or something, ( I'm dating myself, huh). You had your tape ready to record so you could listen later, but they usually always had a station ID or something at or close to a key part. I think it was a way to keep the ones without respect for someone's hard work and time put in to the mix from using it and taking the credit for it. Thoughts on that?
jCU3 4:06 AM - 8 September, 2013
I agree with you DJ VEE never looked at it like that
