Intermediate to Senior BI Analysts , Data Analysts or Performance Analysts

Serato is one of the world leaders in audio software for professional DJs, producers and musicians. World renowned artists such as Fatboy Slim, A-Trak, Snoop Dogg, and DJ Snake love our products and use them on a regular basis.

We are on the look-out for a candidate from the vast world of data and insights, who can bring a wealth of experience with them and take on the challenge in this newly created role.

Reporting to the Head of Insights and working closely with the Marketing,  Products and Development teams, you would be involved in the following activities:

At the beginning

  • Collaborating closely with internal teams and stakeholders to understand their customer insight needs, and what the core problems they are working to solve. This will enable you to craft fit-for-purpose solutions to guide Serato’s strategic direction.
  • Extracting and analyse data from different internal data sources to answer business questions.
  • Identifying trends and patterns within data;
  • Creating and maintaining reports that are used for decision making;
  • Finding patterns and trends in an organization’s historical data;
  • Answering ad-hoc queries in an accurate and timely manner;
  • Providing succinct answers to complex questions;
  • Staying abreast of data developments, innovations and trends in the industry.

As you learn business and data

  • Developing models that use consumer research techniques and application of advanced predictive and optimization modelling techniques;
  • Formulating questions that can help the internal teams in solving their problems;
  • Building an in-depth knowledge and understanding of our target audiences that can be activated across different channels;
  • Building data preparation pipelines;
  • Generating data-based insights to drive opportunities to increase efficiency and improve customer experience;
  • Democratising data and insights (presentations and workshops).

From a successful candidate we are expecting the following:

Technical skills

  • Tertiary qualification in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science or similar.
  • You will be passionate about transforming data into insights for decision makers and will have at least two years of experience working with data;
  • Have strong experience in Data Analytics and will be confident manipulating and analysing large amounts of data to support the formulation of appropriate business strategies and actions.
  • 2+ years of hands-on SQL development experience.
  • You will be highly analytical and will thrive in taking a broad range of data systematically through the data analysis process: preparing and processing the data, applying models, identifying key findings and creating insightful reports.
  • Possess a love of data with a commercial mindset and the ability to turn data into insights and be able to communicate that effectively to senior stakeholders.
  • Tertiary qualification in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science or similar.
  • Have experience working in a commercial environment with technical knowledge of tools like SQL and R and ideally exposure to data visualisation tools like Tableau, Power BI or similar.
  • Understand the logical and physical constraints of data.
  • Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills.
  • Aptitude for research.
  • Nice-to-have skills that we would be interested to see include experience with
    cloud technologies (eg. Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services), R, Pyton,  C++, Git.
  • Knowledge of and empathy with the music industry as well as experience working in a culture of performance and innovation, focused on the customer, would be advantageous.
