Biography

Squared (James Goode) began DeeJaying in 1990 with DJ Hobbes as a hobby and for friends' private parties. After six months he began to get booked for local High School dances and proms. These early DJ gigs led to his first residency at Club City Nites (Groton Subase, CT) and later local radio. The first radio show, Goode Stuff on WFCS 107.7 FM (CCSU New Britain/Hartford, CT) and then later on WHUS 91.7 FM (UCONN Storrs,CT). Squared took a break from DJaying while studying both Sound Engineering and Recording and Music Education at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mass. After a year of study he returned home and began to spin once again until he joined the US Army in 1996. By this time Squared had Deejayed at various clubs and had traveled to Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Georgia, Virginia, and Washington DC. Although he took another pause from spinning upon first joining the Army, in the summer of 1999 he decided to get back into the swing of things and started buying vinyl again. By the beginning of 2000 he had spun in his first club in Germany and also began to get hired as an Emcee as well. Squared is respected within the RnB and Hiphop club circles on both sides of the Atlantic and has begun to make new fans within the reggae scene since accepting the invition to join the Bionic Sound System in 2004. Squared is the fourth member of the "Capo Regime" crew alongside Dirty Black (Empty Stommax), Red Eastwood (BMOR Ent), and Sub-Z (4 Taylor). He's member of the Shizophrenixx crew, founder of Goode Music, and a "Hip Hop Congress" member. He has been in Afrika Bambaataa's Universal Zulu Nation since the early 90's and has served in chapters in CT, NY, DC and is currently the Chapter Leader of Germany's "Zulu South" Chapter. Except for Zulu-South's monthly "Live from Planet Rock" Radio Show (on Stuttgart Freies Radio) and gigs with Bionic Sound System Squared had taken a break from working being behind the turntables to step up to the mic. Squared recorded the "From CT 2 DE" ep and has appeared on stage as a solo artist and featured alongside many different groups. With all of these different things going on Squared still felt the urge to get back to his beginnings and is now back in the clubs blessing both the mic and the tech 1200's. Squared has recently moved away from Stuggi and into the Frankfurt area and is now spinning @ The Late Date and The Black Sounds in Hanau
