MIDI Troubleshooting Guide

Scratch Live provides the ability to control the functions of Scratch Live using MIDI controllers such as keyboards, triggers, sliders, and knobs. Integrating MIDI controllers into your Scratch Live setup can improve live performance usability, such as hitting pads on a MIDI controller, tweaking dials for effects or triggering loops and cue points.

To learn how to MIDI map in Scratch Live follow this guide here:

MIDI Technical Information

Scratch Live MIDI Control only supports:

  • Note On/Off
  • Standard 7-bit CC (Control Change)
  • 14-bit CC
  • RPN/NRPN (14-bit)

This guide however, is what to do when you can't get your MIDI controller to work ; or you are having trouble assigning the Scratch Live controls to your MIDI controller in MIDI mode.

If you have followed the MIDI in Scratch Live 101 guide and:

  • Can't get the Scratch Live controls to map to your MIDI controller (clicking on a control in MIDI mode then pressing a button / moving a fader on your controller does nothing),
  • Are having problems assigning one button to one function - because every time you assign to the next button it wipes the previous,
  • Your MIDI controller doesn't seem to be registering with your computer at all.

then the first thing to do is go to the next page and check you have done everything on the list.
