"Have faith in each others talents, and trust that both of you work well together"

In case you don't know, My Nu Leng are a electronic DJ duo and core part of Black Butter crew based out of Bristol, UK. They are well known for their unique sound and amazing remixes.

DJing as a duo is an art form in itself and we got some words of wisdom on how it's done!

What does a typical My Nu Leng set sound like these days?

We try and mix as many styles that have inspired us over the years in to a set as possible. We want the crowd to have as much fun as us during our shows, so make sure that they are fast paced and filled with dark and moody music. We want people to leaving wanting to come back and see us again and again.

As a DJ duo how do you find the dynamic?

For us it works perfectly for our DJ sets. We usually mix B2B pretty quickly, playing a few tunes each so we are both involved often and always on our toes. While one of us is mixing the other can be looking to find what tunes could work well and take the set even further.

Does working as a duo give you an edge over going it solo?

It has a lot of benefits, both for DJ sets and in the studio. Any issues we have can be easily resolved and when one of us is unsure on something we normally come to an agreement pretty quickly!

Do you have any tips for DJing as a duo?

Have faith in each others talents, and trust that both of you work well together. Share all the music you download together and work on creating something special that people want to come watch time and time again!

Does the music you play affect the way you DJ? How would you say you present your music to your audience?

Definitely, we are heavily influenced by drum and bass and the style of mixing we seem to have taken on stems from our raving days watching the likes of Andy C, Friction etc. You will find a few double drops, quick mixing and hopefully a nice blend of different vibes to give the set a feeling of a journey.
