How To: Record with the SL 3

Digitizing Your Vinyl

If you want to record from vinyl or any other record source, load your track to the desired deck and select “Left Deck In” or “Right Deck In”.

To hear the input source, you will need to select the Thru button on the selected virtual deck, which allows you to switch between regular vinyl and CDs, sending audio direct from the SL 3 inputs to your mixer.

Make sure your records are free of dust and scratches and that your needles are not worn or dusty. Set your optimum input level using the record level knob in Scratch Live, then record and save your files in the same way as you would a DJ mix.

NOTE: For the highest quality digital recordings of your vinyl, you should also take into consideration a few other factors, including phono sensitivity, RIAA equalization and encoding. For a more detailed article on vinyl archiving techniques, click here.
