How To: Get a Crash Dump in Windows Vista and Windows 7

Windows can be set up to create a mini-dump file every time you experience a crash using Vista or Windows 7. This how-to explains how to obtain and then upload this crash dump to us for troubleshooting purposes.

Note: Before doing this please start a new help thread here:  http://www.serato.com/help/request

(Include details on your problem and your full system specifications.)

Instructions

  1. Download this file: http://serato.com
  2. Unzip the file
  3. Run the file: SeratoLocalDumpsOn.reg
  4. Press ‘continue’ when prompted by Windows account control
  5. Press ‘yes’ to add to registry

From here you will need to wait until you experience another crash then do the following:

  1. Run the file: CrashDumps - Shortcut.lnk
  2. Move the last “.dmp” crash dump file to your desktop.
  3. Attach the crash dump file to your help thread.
  4. A browser window will open, navigate to your desktop and attach the dump file.
