When I turn off my computer songs and crates as well as song information is missing when I turn serato back on. This tends to happen for an entire file. Also some files are there but are not labelled the way I had them. I made sure the library was protected. I am currently making new crates and putting the songs back. How do I make sure this doesn't happen again? I would also like to know how to back up my library more than once a week.

Hey Chuckie Starr,
Thanks for getting in touch,
1. If you have "protect library" ticked.
-- This means you wont be able to make edits to the track details.
-- IE you wont be able to change the track name inside Itch.
-- If you are editing files inside ITCH leave this UNTICKED.
2. Are you using any external hard drives?
-- Make sure the (READ&WRITE) permissions for that drive are set to READ&WRITE.
-- If its set to only READ, then every time you close ITCH these changes will get disregarded by the external drive.
3. Make sure the music files are not protected.
-- RIGHT-click on the music file and select PROPERTIES.
-- Make sure you have permissions to read&write to the file.
-- If the file is protected then changes you make inside ITCH will get disregarded when you close the program.
If you are still having issues are you able to upload a couple files that cause this problem for you? I will look into them further then get back to you.
Thanks :)

Hi Jamie
I checked to make sure everything that you mentioned and everything is set to read and write.
I exited itch today and lost all the files crates and subcrates that I have done in the past two weeks.
I looked in the serato backup folder and went into history. I would like to restore to a backup from May 15. How can I do this?
Also, I have a version of scratch live on the same laptop I am using for itch. Is this a problem?

Hey Chuckie Starr,
Thanks for that information,
The _SERATO_Backup folder is a copy of your _SERATO_ folder.
-- This copy gets taken every couple of weeks.
This could be the problem. If you have been an Scratch Live user for a while you may have a SCRATCHlive folder. (this was the old _SERATO_ folder. All Serato applications now read from the _SERATO_ folder).
Do you have a "SCRATCHlive" folder in the same location as your _SERATO_ folder?
If so, rename this folder "SCRATCHlive_old"
1. Now launch ITCH.
2. Create a CRATE call it TEST.
3. Drag 10 or so files to it.
4. Close ITCH.
5. Open ITCH.
Are those changes now saving correctly?
Let me know how you get on :)
Thanks.
