Syncing Ableton to a channel

Hi all,

This might have been answered already but I can't find it.

I've just upgraded my SL1 to an SL3 so I can have Ableton (via the bridge) on the third deck. So far so good. I'm using 2x SL1200's, dicers and an Akai LDP8 for Serato, all are working fine. I've got my launchpad kicking off loops in Ableton. When I set the bridge to internal mode, ableton plays fine. So far so good. However, when I try and sync it to a deck I get d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d as the sample seems to keep triggering. i just want to be able to drop my own beats over tunes and not use a third deck to manually sync the able track I'm playing.

As a noob of the bridge, i'm thinking that I've configured it wrong. But what could be screwing the sync/trigger up?

Any help, gratefully received.

OK it was a tune that I'd not set the beatgrid for, so I've re analysed it and not have a beatgrid. However when triggering the loop, it just flashes and never triggers... Help?

Right, loaded the ableton track to the deck *duh* and that triggers it, but it's in sync but out of time. Is there a latency control I need to calibrate it?

Sounds like you need to adjust the clip launch quantisation in Ableton.

you need to make sure your tracks in ableton are perfectly warped. like PERFECT! its really important.
Next step, you need to make sure ALL of your beat grids are good and lined up correctly. This will take a while if you have a ton of tracks.

Then you can sync clips to your playing decks.

I have to many tracks to perfectly beatgrid them all. I would need to manually re do almost ever track I have, 45,000 is to many to waste that time.

What i do. I load the the ableton control track into the 3rd deck and it stay there all night. Now I play on 3 decks though (3 cdj2000's in HID). I find this to be the best way to use the bridge. You could use your midi controller, and map out deck controls like pitch bend, cue, play, ect.... I map a knob on my APC40 to tempo and limit it to only let me select between 70-140 BPM. so i use that knob to get it close then the pitch fader on the dj to make it perfect with the playing deck.

fwiw. If you change the BPM on the ableton set it'll update on the transport control deck.
